The Society shall be called the Hodder Valley Agricultural and Horticultural Society. 2. The Society shall consist of a President, Chairperson , Treasurer, Secretary, Directors and General Committee. 3. The Society shall be supported by Donations, Fund Raising and Annual Subscriptions. 4. All classes are open unless specified as Local, in which case Local entries are confined to residents of the Hodder Watershed above Burholme Bridge and to the members of Slaidburn YFC. 5. All Exhibits must have been in the possession or under the cultivation of the Exhibitor at least 28 days prior to the date of the Show. Animals being exhibited must have been the bona fide property of the Exhibitor for 28 days on Show Day. Certificates will be required if necessary 6. If anyone procures any specimen from another, and exhibits it as their own production, they shall, if it is proved satisfactory to the Committee, forfeit all prizes awarded to them and be barred from exhibiting again for a period of 3 years. The Committee reserves the right to examine the garden and glass-‐house of any Exhibitor prior to, or after the Show, and any Exhibitor refusing them admission will be disqualified. 7. All intending Exhibitors shall enter with the Secretary on or before the day fixed for the closing of the entries, and no entries shall be accepted unless sent with the fee in a sealed envelope OR paid online in full. All entries to be in no later than 18:00 hours 26th August 2019-‐ this date to be strictly enforced. No late entries will be accepted. 8. The Committee reserves the right to refuse or accept any entry or to cancel any Class not having any competition. That the entry fees of Stock etc. not exhibited shall be forfeited 9. Suitable persons shall be appointed to examine stock previous to their being taken before the Judges and they shall have the power to disqualify all animals which may be entered in the wrong Class or which may be of other than the specified age. 10. Any cattle having cast a tooth making it ineligible for the Class entered will be transferred to the next appropriate Class. 11. Tampering with livestock will result in disqualification– This includes but is not a definitive list -‐ Cows or heifers in milk should not have teat sealants applied, Setting of teats is prohibited and the administration of tranquillisers, sedatives or other drugs which affect the behaviour of the animal is prohibited 12. No animal should be shown if it has been bred or owned by the Judge 13. Children should not be allowed to handle bulls or any large, fractious animal. An adult should always be in attendance to take over if a child is having difficulty maintaining control of any animal. 14. The advice in the Approved Code of Practice “Preventing Accidents to Children in Agriculture” should be followed at all times. 15. All bulls aged 9 months and over must have a ring through their nose. This is stated in the Health and Safety Regulations Guidance Note GS36 regarding handling of bulls at agricultural shows. Bull exhibitors should acquaint themselves with this legislation. 16. Any animal thought to be unsafe for the general public will not be allowed into the cattle tents. www.hoddervalleyshow.co.uk 7 17. Exhibitors must ensure that their animals are properly halter trained before the Show. 18. All animals will be checked for their halters being on correctly and any animal found to be incorrectly haltered will not be allowed to enter the ring. 19. It is advised that all Beef Cattle should be shown with nose clips. Bulls see Rule 15 20. The use of electrical equipment will be allowed in restricted areas. only 21. The Judge shall have the right to reserve any prize where the Exhibit may be considered unworthy of it, or where there is insufficientmpetition, co also awarding extra prizes for merit. 22. All Prize Money will be available to be collected by the Exhibitor on Show Day. 23. That all objections shall be in writing and lodged with the Secretary together with a deposit of £10 on the day of the Exhibition. The onus (or otherwise) to rest with the objector. The objections to be decided by the Committee of Directors whose decision shall be final and not subject to any legal ruling. 24. All matters of dispute arising during the existence of the Society not otherwise provided for in these Rules and Regulations shall be decided by the Committee OF Directors, whose decision shall be final. 25. SPECIAL WARNING. The Committee shall not be responsible for any accident, loss or damage which may happen to any Exhibit. or for any accident which may happen to Members, Riders, Exhibitors or Spectators upon the field or otherwise. 26. ALL EXHIBITS AND LIVESTOCK MUST BE STAGED IN THE SHOW TENTS OR ON THE FIELD BY 9.30 am FOR JUDGING. NONE TO BE REMOVED BEFORE 4.30 pm.,( EXCEPT COW OR HEIFER ENTRIES WHICH MAY BE REMOVED AFTER THE GRAND PARADE) OR PRIZE MONEY MAY BE WITHHELD.
