In the opening match on Centre Court, former World No. 8 Marcos Baghdatis faces Uzbekistan’s Denis Istomin, who is the only remaining player without an ATP World Tour title. Baghdatis enters having yet to lose serve this week. They split their two previous tour-level encounters, with the Cypriot triumphing in Moscow 2010 and Istomin winning at the 2014 Australian Open. The last remaining seed is No. 12 Sam Querrey, who saved two match points to upset No. 2 seed Gilles Simon on Thursday. He squares off against former World No. 13 Alexandr Dolgopolov in the second match on Centre Court, with the Ukrainian owning a 2-1 head-to-head advantage. WHAT’S AT STAKE: Baghdatis is aiming to reach his 12th tour-level final (4-7) and a second on grass courts (0-1). Istomin is aiming to reach his 3rd tour-level final (0-2) and a first on grass courts. Dolgopolov is aiming to reach his 7th tour-level final (2-4) and a first on grass courts. Querrey is aiming to reach his 14th tour-level final (7-6) and a third on grass courts (1-1). QUERREY ON GRASS: Querrey is bidding to become the first American to reach a grass-court final since 2012, when Andy Roddick won the Eastbourne title (d. Seppi) and John Isner prevailed in Newport (d. Hewitt). He is also the only player remaining in the draw with an ATP World Tour title on grass (London/Queen’s Club 2010, d. Fish). BAGHDATIS THE ELDER STATESMAN: Baghdatis, who celebrated his 30th birthday on 17 June, is looking to claim a third grass-court title for the ‘30 & Over Club’ this year, after Nicolas Mahut triumphed in ‘s-Hertogenbosch (d. Goffin) and Roger Federer won his eighth Halle title (d. Seppi). There have already been 14 winners aged 30 and over in 2015 – one more than last year.
