(MADSION, NJ- November 9, 2015)—Fairleigh Dickinson University students in the Visual and Performing Arts Department will be performing the Theatre Department’s latest production, Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick’s musical comedy, SHE LOVES ME.

Amalia and Georg, employees in a perfumery in Budapest loathe each other. To escape the reality of working together they turn to a romantic pen pal exchanges until they realize that they have been writing to each other. SHE LOVES ME is an enchanting jewel-box of a musical, from the songwriting team behind FIDDLER ON THE ROOF. This wonderfully scented case of mistaken identity and love letters transports the audience to 1930’s Budapest, Hungary, full of love, laughter, and perfume.

The show features 21 Fairleigh Dickinson University student performers, including Chris Lorenc as Georg Nowack, Jenna Cormey as Amalia Balash, Dennis Summerville as Steven Kodaly and Jessica Milne as Ilona Ritter. The production will take place in the Dreyfuss Theatre located at Fairleigh Dickinson University College of Florham Campus. The opening performance will take place on October 2 at 8:00 p.m.

Additional performance dates are as follows: December 3 at 7 p.m., December 4 at 8 p.m. December 5 at 8 p.m., and October 6 at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are priced at $6 for students, Fairleigh Dickinson community and senior citizens. (MADSION, NJ- September 13, 2014)—Fairleigh Dickinson University students in the Visual and Performing Arts Department will be performing the Theatre Department’s latest production, A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM, one of ’s most famous comedies.

Perhaps the most popular and magical of all of Shakespeare's comedies, A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM weaves between the real world of Athens Greece and the magical fairy kingdom in the forest outside of Athens. The play humorously celebrates the erratic whims of love and fancy. The approaching wedding festivities of Theseus, Duke of Athens, and his bride-to-be, Hippolyta, Queen of the Amazons, are delightfully crisscrossed with the unpredictable romances of two young pairs of Athenian lovers, a fateful rivalry between the King and Queen of the Fairies and the theatrical aspirations of a bumbling troupe of Athenian laborers. It all ends happily in wedding- night revelry complete with a play-within-a-play presented by the laborers to the ecstatic amusement of all.

(MADSION, NJ- October 27, 2014)—Fairleigh Dickinson University students in the Visual and Performing Arts Department will be performing the Theatre Department’s latest production, LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS, a comedy, horror rock musical by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman. The production will take place in the Dreyfuss Theatre located on Fairleigh Dickinson University College of Florham Campus. The opening performance will take place on November 14 at 8:00 p.m.

Fairleigh Dickinson’s LITTLE SHOP OF HORORRS is directed and choreographed by Cindy Thole. LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS’s Musical Director is Allen Cohen. Tickets are priced at $6 for students, FDU community and senior citizens and $12 for all others. Based on the 1960’s cult classic film, LITTLE SHOP OF HORORRS, is a horror musical that will make you scream with laughter.

The musical follows the life of Seymour Krelborn, a meek floral assistant at Mr. Muschnick’s flower shop on Skid Row, who purchases an exotic plant with a mysterious need for human flesh. As Seymour develops a crush on his beautiful coworker, Audrey, he also battles for control over his increasingly bloodthirsty plant, which he names Audrey II, after his crush. While the plant brings new opportunities to Seymour and the flower shop, it does not come without cost. The plant quickly grows beyond what Seymour imagined and turns into an evil, R&B singing, vulgar carnivore. Audrey II gives Seymour his 15 minutes of fame, but he soon realizes he bit off more than he could chew. Full of popular songs including “Skidrow (Downtown)”, “Suddenly Seymour”, and “Somewhere That’s Green”, this musical is guaranteed to excite new theatregoers as well as those who already consider the theatre their home.

(MADSION, NJ- March 8, 2015)—Fairleigh Dickinson University’s Visual and Performing Arts Department will be performing Merrily We Roll Along, a musical written by eight time Tony Award winner, Stephen Sondheim. The production opens on Friday, March 27 at 8 p.m.

Merrily We Roll Along travels back in time to 1976, following the journey of Franklin Shepard, a disheartened, middle-aged songwriter, and two friends from his past. The musical follows the three friends throughout various milestones of their personal and professional lives. The show exudes humor, wit and intensity, with an illustrious “Broadway-style” score. Merrily We Roll Along is an inspirational story for anyone who has ever pursued a dream. The production features popular songs such as “Not A Day Goes By” and “Opening Doors”.

Stephen Sondheim is known as one of the best composers and lyricists of all time. He has written showstoppers such as Into The Woods, Gypsy and West Side Story. Merrily We Roll Along is thought to be Sondheim’s semi-biographical musical.

The musical is directed by Stephen Hollis, Director of the Theatre Department, and choreographed by Cindy Thole. Dimitri Nakhamkin is the production’s musical director. The show features 23 Fairleigh Dickinson University student performers, including Nolan Hennely as Franklin Shepard, Dennis Summerville as Charles Kringas and Savannah Lloyd playing the role of Mary Flynn.

(MADSION, NJ- October 3, 2014)—Fairleigh Dickinson University students in the Visual and Performing Arts Department will be performing the Theatre Department’s next production, MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING, one of William Shakespeare’s wittiest plays. The Department’s latest production will take place in the Dreyfuss Theatre located on Fairleigh Dickinson University College of Florham Campus. The opening performance will take place on October 15 at 8:00 p.m.

Written in 1598, MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING is considered one of Shakespeare’s best comedies, combining hearty hilarity with serious musing on shame and honor. MUCH ADO features Benedick, a confirmed young bachelor, and Beatrice, his favorite sparring partner. While they hide their infatuation beneath witty barbs, young love blossoms as Hero and Claudio race to the altar. When the evil Don John conspires to break up the match, will false accusations and misunderstandings prevent the young couple's happy ending? With witty wordplay and clever plot twists, it is similar to other Shakespeare plays, MUCH ADO is a joyful comedy that ends with multiple marriages and no deaths.
