    2008 Season Superlatives Rivals.com The Flames finished 2008 with a 35-26-1 record, the best record under a first-year head coach in Liberty program history. It was the first time in the 35-year history of the program that Liberty recorded 30 or more wins in four consecutive years. The 2008 pitching staff set a new school season strikeout mark with 508 strikeouts, 103 more than the previous standard of 405. The mark also led the Big South Conference. Liberty batters set new program single- season marks by hitting 155 doubles and being hit by a pitch 82 times. Liberty set a Big South Championship mark by scoring 55 runs over the Flames’ six games in the tournament.
