Dear Students and Parents Hastings Secondary College Port Dear Students and Parents Hastings Secondary College Port Macquarie Campus P&C Association is proud to present: Colour Splash and Dash - Wednesday April 8th from 11.15 am - 2.15pm The Splash and Dash is a colour powder and fun run fundraising event bringing together students from all year groups, parent volunteers and teachers in a fun day to raise money for our school. The Splash and Dash promotes healthy and active lifestyles while helping our P&C raise funds towards seating, shade and gardens in our campus. It’s all about participation, with students treated to a great day as a reward for their fundraising efforts. The day will be out of uniform with (cheap or old!) white or dark clothes showing up the colours best. The powder we will use is non-toxic, biodegradable and environmentally safe. Parents will be asked to avoid spraying colour near faces, but students with asthma will need to carry their inhaler &/or consider whether participation is best for them. A drink bottle and a small towel to brush off before getting on the bus is recommended. Entry Tickets to the Splash and Dash event is $5.00 and includes an icy pole. Food will be available to pre-purchase for $5. Water refilling stations will be available. See below for further information. How Does My Child Fundraise? Students will fundraise by selling raffle tickets. Raffle tickets can be purchased for $2.00 each or 3 for $5.00. Please find a book of 10 raffle tickets attached along with the prize list. Additional raffle tickets can be picked-up from the front office staff. Money and raffle tickets (sold and unsold) are to be returned to the front office by Monday 6 April. Prizes have been donated by generous local business sponsors including Big W/Woolworths, Majestic Cinemas, Your Life Fitness, Domino’s Pizza, Mid North Coast Paintball, Tree Tops Adventure park Coffs Harbour, Planet X Skating, Sports Power, Baskin Robbins ice cream, Inner Vision, De Silva Jewellers, Wild Culture Organics, Big Banana Coffs Harbour, Zambrero Port Macquarie, Burger Rebellion, Storm Riders Port Central, Soul Surfing, Facade Escape Rooms, Ghanda Clothes, Stoney Aqua Park, Ottoman Kebabs Settlement City, Coastal Music, Plunketts Chemmart Pharmacy, Serenity Beauty, Boost Juice, Kate Caters, Hydro Golf Port Macquarie, Hair-Is art hairdressing, Ashmore Palms Holiday Village and Pipeworks Café. The prizes will be drawn at the Splash and Dash event on Wednesday 8 April commencing from 1 pm. Winners will be notified by phone and advertised in the Port Macquarie Campus Newsletter, Website and Facebook. Prize for the highest fundraiser In addition to 15 major prizes and 30 minor prizes with a total prize pool more than $4000 drawn in the raffle, a $300 BIGW/Woolworths voucher will be provided to the three students, one from each stage, who sell the most raffle tickets. There will be three vouchers awarded one each to the highest fundraiser in Years 7 and 8, Years 9 and 10 and Years 11 and 12. On the Day Students will be divided into 4 groups to avoid crowding on the circuit and will rotate through the colour powder circuit, icy pole chill out zone, novelty games and the lunch stop. Prior to the event students will nominate to be in a group of their choice, so they are able to run with their friends. SRC members will co-ordinate allocation of groups in the week prior to the event. Can Parents Get Involved? Yes please! Not only can you support the campus and students with your sponsorship – but you can join in on the fun! We would love to welcome parents and family members to attend the Hastings Secondary College Port Macquarie Campus P&C Association Splash and Dash event. If you would like to volunteer to help on the day, please complete the section of the note below. New volunteers need to bring in 100 points of ID to the office prior to the day of the event for us to comply with working with children regulations. We can’t wait to see you at our event! Design: Systematic content analysis of all web pages to identify nutrition content and health claims. Nutrition information panels were used to determine whether products with claims met Nutrient Profiling Scoring Criteria (NPSC) and qualifying criteria, and to compare them with the Code to determine compliance. Setting: Australian websites of forty-four fast-food chains including meals, bakery, ice cream, beverage and salad chains. Subjects: Any products marketed on the websites using health or nutrition content claims. Results: Of the forty-four fast-food websites, twenty (45 %) had at least one claim. A total of 2094 claims were identified on 371 products, including 1515 nutrition content (72 %) and 579 health claims (28 %). Five fast-food products with health (5 %) and 157 products with nutrition content claims (43 %) did not meet the requirements of the Code to allow them to carry such claims. Conclusions: New provisions in the Code came into effect in January 2016 after a 3-year transition.

For further information contact the UOW Library: [email protected] Health and nutrition content claims on Australian fast-food websites Abstract Objective: To determine the extent that Australian fast-food websites contain nutrition content and health claims, and whether these claims are compliant with the new provisions of the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code ('the Code'). Design: Systematic content analysis of all web pages to identify nutrition content and health claims. Nutrition information panels were used to determine whether products with claims met Nutrient Profiling Scoring Criteria (NPSC) and qualifying criteria, and to compare them with the Code to determine compliance. Setting: Australian websites of forty-four fast-food chains including meals, bakery, ice cream, beverage and salad chains. Subjects: Any products marketed on the websites using health or nutrition content claims. Results: Of the forty-four fast-food websites, twenty (45 %) had at least one claim. A total of 2094 claims were identified on 371 products, including 1515 nutrition content (72 %) and 579 health claims (28 %).
