Softball Bat List WBSC CERTIFIED SOFTBALL BAT LIST SOFTBALL BAT LIST Updated: 19 Apil 2021 P a g e | 1 WBSC CERTIFIED SOFTBALL BAT LIST The Softball Playing Rules Commission adopted bat certification standards effective January 1, 2002. Currently, the (ASTM F2219) high-speed batted ball test (100 mph) is used for determining bats allowed to be used in WBSC World Championships, World Cups and the Olympic Games. Also included are the qualifying tournaments for both the World Championships and the Olympics. August 31, 2008, marked the end of the period during which bats that complied with the previous WBSC bat performance standard (1.20 BPF) were permitted to be used in WBSC play. Bats containing the ISF 1.20 BPF stamp are NOT permitted in WBSC play. All bats must contain the ISF 2005 bat stamp or the WBSC Certified stamp. • EXPLORING the BRAND IDENTITY CREATION of FEMALE ATHLETES: the CASE of JENNIE FINCH and CAT OSTERMAN a Dissertation by JAMI NICO
CORE Metadata, citation and similar papers at core.ac.uk Provided by Texas A&M Repository EXPLORING THE BRAND IDENTITY CREATION OF FEMALE ATHLETES: THE CASE OF JENNIE FINCH AND CAT OSTERMAN A Dissertation by JAMI NICOLE LOBPRIES Submitted to the Office of Graduate and Professional Studies of Texas A&M University in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY Chair of Committee, Gregg Bennett Committee Members, George Cunningham Summer Odom Jon Welty-Peachy Head of Department, Richard Kreider August 2014 Major Subject: Kinesiology Copyright 2014 Jami Nicole Lobpries ABSTRACT In the context of human branding, athletes have become viable brands capable of providing empirical support for scholarly and industry endeavors. To add to our conceptual understanding of athlete branding and particularly in the context of female athletes, this qualitative case study investigated the brand identity creation and brand building strategies used by two female athletes, Jennie Finch and Cat Osterman, and their management teams to leverage their brand equity. Further, due to the gendered nature of sport, this case study assessed the perceived barriers female athletes face in the brand building process. Guided by brand identity theory and social role theory, interviews were conducted with Finch, Osterman, three female agents who manage female athletes’ brands, and four softball players from various levels of the softball community. Findings from this case study provide empirical support for using brand identity theory to assess the creation of an athlete’s brand identity and strategies for positioning, communicating, and leveraging the athlete’s brand. Themes shaping brand identity creation included identifying core values, brand personality, and brand associations.

  • Interview of Cheri Kempf, Commissioner of National Pro Fastpitch
Interview of Cheri Kempf, commissioner of National Pro Fastpitch. by Gaétan Alibert, Honus www.honus.fr The current championship celebrates its tenth anniversary. How is the NPF? We just finished our 11th season of NPF action. The NPF has 4 strong owners. Our priorities at this point are expansion, securing solid ownership for more teams. The NPF is optimistic in continuing to move forward and position ourselves as a legitimate sports entertainment option both in-venue and on television. What are the strengths that enable the success of the league? #1 The talent is second to none. The NPF is the most competitive level of fastpitch softball in the world. #2 The sport itself is extremely popular in the United States. NCAA has proven the overwhelming success of the sport on television. At times, NCAA Softball has come in 3rd in all sports for television ratings...with only NCAA football and men's basketball in front. So, popularity is there. #3 The aforementioned positions television networks to have an interest in the sport at the professional level. What challenges do you still? The biggest challenge right now, is the non-engagement of corporate America in women's sports overall. There are a lot of opportunities for the NPF and a lot of opportunities for the NPF to be able to contribute positively to ROI of corporate partners. However, those potential partners are still opting to invest in men's sports - of ANY kind - rather than to invest in women's sports. What are the current or future plans for the organization? Continued growth in the areas of corporate partnership, team expansion, and television Is it not too hard to move in the shadow of the MLB and professional baseball in general? The challenge is not just MLB, but the mindset of corporate America to continue to do what they've always done and invest in men's sports.
