EUROCITIES is the political platform for major European cities towards the EU institutions. Established in 1986, we network the local governments of over 130 of Europe’s largest cities and 40 partner cities. Between them our members govern some 130 million citizens across 35 countries. We represent the interests of cities to the EU on all aspects of European legislation, policies and programmes that impact on their citizens, services and territories. Through EUROCITIES our city mayors connect, exchange and collectively build international influence. 6 forums | 40 working groups | 170 cities | 30 countries | 130 million inhabitants | 2500 contacts www.eurocities.eu [email protected] tel +32-2-552.0888 tel B-1000 Brussels B-1000 1, Square de Meeûs de Square 1, The voice of cities in Europe over 2500 city experts, and business partners, we connect across 40 technical working groups, 15 European projects and six thematic forums. culture economy environment knowledge mobility social affairs society our policy priorities • Economy: Cities account • Inclusion: 75% of Europe’s • Climate: Cities account for 85% of the EU’s GDP: population lives in cities: for 80% of energy use: Europe Europe’s competitiveness in the Europe’s cohesion depends won’t reach its climate targets world depends on the leading on cities’ capacity to manage without supporting city edge industries and knowledge social inclusion and promote governments to manage down base in cities. integration. their carbon footprint. “Cities and urban zones are “The full potential of our “Municipalities must the main driving factors of cities lies in the talents and function as role models on our economy.” diversity of the people that the climate issue.” Johannes Hahn, Ilmar Reepalu, Commissioner for regional policy live and work in them.” Mayor of Malmo Elisabeth Schroedter, MEP our members on 1 January 2013 AL Tirana FR Angers Loire Metropole, Bordeaux, Grenoble Alpes PT Lisbon, Porto; Matosinhos AM Yerevan Metropole, Lille Communaute Urbaine, Lyon, RO Timisoara AT Vienna* Marseille, Grand Nancy, Nantes Metropole*, RS Nis, Novi Sad BA Banja Luka, Sarajevo Nice Cote d’Azur, Paris, Rennes Metropole, Saint RU Barrier free city foundation BE Antwerp, Brussels Capital Region, Brussels City, Etienne Metropole, Strasbourg, Toulouse; Amiens SE Gothenburg, Malmo, Stockholm*; Karlstad, Charleroi, Ghent*; Kortrijk Metropole, Brest Metropole Oceane, Reims Linkoping, Ronneby, Umea; Kapsch BG Burgas, Sofia, Varna Metropole, Saint Denis de la Reunion; Tours; GDF Suez, SK Bratislava; Kosice CH Geneva, Zurich VEOLIA SI Ljubljana CY Nicosia; Turkish Cypriot Community of Nicosia FYROM Skopje TR Bursa, Gaziantep, Istanbul, Izmir, Konya, Sanliurfa; CZ Brno, Pilsen, Prague; Ostrava GE Tbilisi Bakirkoy, Beyoglu, Nilufer, Osmangazi, Pendik, DE Berlin, Bonn, Chemnitz, Cologne, Dortmund, GR Athens; Amaroussion, Heraklion Serdivan Dresden, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt am Main, Hamburg, HR Zagreb; Rijeka UA Kharkov, Kiev, Lviv, Odessa Karlsruhe, Leipzig*, Mannheim, Munich, Munster, HU Budapest* UK Belfast, Birmingham*, Brighton & Hove, Bristol, Nuremberg; Bremen, Hagen; ATOS IE Dublin Edinburgh, Glasgow, Liverpool, London, DK Aarhus, Copenhagen*; IBM IT Bologna, Florence, Genoa, Milan, Naples, Palermo, Manchester, Newcastle/Gateshead, Sheffield, EE Tallinn Rome, Turin*, Venice; Cesena, Pisa, Salerno Sunderland; Derry, LB Ealing, LB Lewisham, Preston, ES Barcelona*, Bilbao, Gijon, Madrid, Malaga, Murcia, LT Vilnius Wolverhampton; Microsoft Seville, Terrassa Metropolitan Area, Zaragoza ; LU Luxembourg Fuenlabrada, San Sebastian-Donostia, Santiago de LV Riga Compostela NL Amsterdam, BrabantStad Metropolitan Area, FI Espoo, Helsinki, Oulu, Tampere, Turku, Vantaa Eindhoven, Rotterdam, The Hague*, Utrecht; Almere, Netwerkstad Twente, Parkstad Limburg NO Bergen, Oslo PL Bialystok, Bydgoszcz, Gdansk, Katowice, Lodz, Lublin, Poznan, Rzeszow, Warsaw*, Wroclaw * Executive Committee members Associated Partners Associated Business Partners.
