P a g e | 1 V.V.Sangha’s Shree Khasgatesh College of Arts and Commerce, Talikoti-586 214 PREFACE Talikoti is a renowned historical place with certain little relics to show. The town is familiar with its well-known Battle of Talikoti -1565 which was “A La Waterloo for the magnificent Vijayanagar Empire. This town is again in its toes for an addition of a new leaf in the annals of its history, by standing as a torchbearer in the sphere of education. This town is located below the belt of Deccan Plateau situated on the left bank of river Drona, commonly known as Doni. It is 29 kms from taluka head quarter Muddebihal and 85 kms from district head quarter Vijayapur, a backward and draught prone district. So this place is economically very poor and socially and educationally very backward. Black alluvial soil is fertile soil fit to grow special food grains like Jawar and Wheat and cash crops like Sunflower, toor etc., but due to frequent rain failures the area has continued to be drought prone one. In such an area, our Educational Institution V.V.Sangha is a pioneer in the sphere of education which was established in 1939 with the blessings of His Holiness Shree Khasgat Shivayogi a great seer of this area. A great many immortal souls have been working in different capacities towards solid foundation and sustained development of the Sangha for the past seven decades. V.V.Sangha Talikoti (Regd.) has had series of sister institutions from primary to U.G. level in various faculties like Arts, commerce and Science. Names of Schools and Colleges are: 1. Shree Khasgatesh College of Arts & Commerce, Talikoti Our college is affiliated to the Rani Channamma University, Belagavi, established in the year 1977. Since its inception it has been striving hard to realise the noble ideals it stands for. Our college spent its formative years nearly two decades in S.K. Composite P. U. College building and in 1999 it was shifted to a beautifully conceived new grand building erected in 11 acres of land. We are in the process of third cycle of NAAC Accreditation. Presently ours is a „B‟ Grade college with CGPA 2.30. We are fond of bettering our institution‟s performance in the incumbent accreditation cycle. SSR for Third Cycle of Accreditation…. ENGLISH NDA-2012 EXAMINATION CAREER POINT QUESTIONS & SOLUTIONS PART – A Direction (For the next 08 items which follow) : Read the following 02 passages and answer the questions that following each passage : Passage – 1 There was a farewell ceremony on here day at school, to which my parents and I were invited. It was a touching ceremony in a solemn kind of way. The City Corporation sent a representative and so did the two main political parties. There were many speeches and my grandmother was garlanded by a girl from every class. Then the haed-girl, a particular favourite of hers, unveiled the farewell present the girls had bought for her by subscription. It was a large marble model of the Taj Mahal; it had a bulb inside and could be lit up like a table lamp. My grandmother made a speech too, but she couldn't finish it properly, for she began to cry before she got to the end of it and to stop to wipe away her tears. I turned away when she began dabbing at her eyes with a huge green handkerchief and discovered, to my surprise, that many of the girls sitting around me were wiping their green hankerchief and discovered, to my surprise. that many of the girls sitting around me were wiping their eyes too. I was very jealous. I remember. I had always taken it for granted that it was my own special right to love her ; I did know how to cope with the discovery that my right had been infringed by a whole school.
