Bibliography on the History of the Society of Jesus 20191
Archivum Historicum Societatis Iesu vol. lxxxviii, fasc. 176 (2019-II) Bibliography on the History of the Society of Jesus 20191 Wenceslao Soto Artuñedo SJ A collaboration between Archivum Romanum Societatis Iesu, Institute for Advanced Jesuit Studies (Boston College) and Jesuitica Project (KU Leuven) The “Bibliography on the History of the Society of Jesus” was first produced for AHSI by László Polgár SJ, spanning fifty issues of the journal, between 1952 and 2001. The Bibliography was resumed in 2006 by Paul Begheyn SJ, who was its author until 2018. With appreciation and esteem for Fr Begheyn’s significant contribution to this enterprise, the collaborators on the “Bibliography on the History of the Society of Jesus 2019” enter a new phase of the Bibliography’s production, incorporating for the first time three distinct and interconnected outlets for exploring the bibliographical riches of Jesuit history: -Bibliography on the History of the Society of Jesus, by Wenceslao Soto Artuñedo SJ, in print and online annually, Archivum Historicum Societatis Iesu: http://www.sjweb.info/arsi/en/publications/ahsi/ bibliography/ -Jesuit Online Bibliography, a free, searchable collection of Jesuit Studies Scholarship through the Portal to Jesuit Studies: https:// jesuitonlinebibliography.bc.edu/ -Jesuitica, a collaborative initiative from KU Leuven and the Jesuit Region ELC to facilitate academic research on the Maurits Sabbe Library’s Jesuitica book collections: https://www.jesuitica.be/ The 2019 Bibliography introduces some changes to the bibliographical styling and criteria for inclusion of works. As in previous years, in order to provide continuity with Fr Polgár’s work, it incorporates titles dated from 2000. -
The Cult of Our Lady of Częstochowa Outside Poland
PEREGRINUS CRACOVIENSIS Zeszyt 3, 1996 ISBN 83−904441−5−1 / ISSN 1425−1922 Jan Nalaskowski OSPPE, Elżbieta Bilska The Cult of Our Lady of Częstochowa outside Poland he painting of Our Lady of Częstochowa has grown in popularity through the ages. Evidence of this is the geographical expansion of the pilgrimages T coming to Jasna Góra. At first these were only from Poland but in the course of decades and centuries the pilgrimage movement developed also in other Europe− an countries. One may notice the process of the translocation of the Częstochowa Virgin Mary Cult and its development, not only in Europe but also among the inhabi− tants of other continents. There the Painting of the Virgin Mary is held in particular adoration, services are held, churches and chapels are built. Some of these sacral buildings due to particular features and events have become the goal of many pilgri− mages and gained the character of a sanctuary. A cult is an eternal matter of human religious life. Since time immemorial human generations, believing in the transcendental existence of God and his absolu− te Greatness and Holiness, worshipped him, loved him with offerings and prayer. This religious worship, i.e. cult expands also to other people, items and signs con− nected with God and paying him adequate homage.1 The reason for the special Cult of Our Lady is her exceptional position as the Mother of the Incarnated God − Jesus Christ, her personal holiness and privileged place, as well as her role in the redemption.2 The Holy Mother − Mary having a role in the Mystery of Christ, the Redeemer is still present in the Church. -

For nearly a millennium, its neighbours, as well as pilgrims Let me – before I leave... look once more at Krakow, at the from all over the world, have been travelling to the city to pray at the graves of Krakow where every stone and every brick is dear to me, and I will look from here at Poland... saints and blessed or in front of benevolent paintings or crucifixes. They have been coming to participate in vibrant services and processions, which add unparalleled And that is why, before I leave, I ask you to once again accept colour to the city as centuries go by. Many people make also use of the spiritual this entire spiritual heritage that is called “Poland” with faith, offer of numerous convents, monasteries and retreat houses which welcome pilgrims hope and love. In the recent times, the main reasons behind the religious visits to Krakow are the John Paul II, Błonia Park in Krakow, 10 June 1979 persons of blessed Pope John Paul II and Saint Mary Faustina Kowalska related to the dynamically developing devotion to God’s Mercy. -
