Roy Lister and Tommy Tycho lyrics for songs

(Recorded in Sydney's EMI Studios. An orchestra in Sydney played the backing line, while Julie Anthony sang the vocal line in London, with communication via satellite from EMI Studios in Sydney to EMI Studios in London).

Tommy Tycho was a well-known Hungarian-born pianist, conductor, and arrange, who specialised in television work, acting as the Seven network's music director for its first fifteen years, from 1956 to 1971. He has a wiki here. His own website became inactive after he suffered a stroke in 2008 at the age of 80.

There is a transcript of an extended interview with him on the ABC's Talking Heads in 2005 here.

Julie Anthony was by the mid-1970s already credentialed as a singer, having appeared in the Australian and West End productions of Irene. She has a brief wiki here.

(Below: Julie Anthony With Simon Gallaher when she appeared on The Simon Gallaher Show which ran 1982-83 on the ABC) Lyricist Roy Lister was an A & R man at Leeds music, who sometimes wrote under the name Jack Aranda (jacaranda). He also worked with Shad Lyons, and penned tunes such as Denim and Lace for Marty Rhone in 1975 (#5 in Sydney, #2 in Melbourne, #1 in Brisbane) and A Mean Pair of Jeans for Rhone in 1977 which hit #5 in Sydney, #12 in Melbourne and #1 in Adelaide.

Below are lyrics for the song which begins c. 42'06" over shots of Sean Kramer and Brett Maxworthy (and wombat) riding a horse through the Australian bush past many bush creatures:

Hey hey, you and I will have a fun day 'Cause the way it has begun Puts the sun into Monday Today I feel free like the wild creatures do With time out to wonder at something that's new

Like Monday changing into a Sunday … with you Monday was the colour of the day sky day Just an emptiness of blue Until you made it my day And now I run free like the wild creatures do With time out to wonder at someone like you When Monday changes into a Sunday … for two …

(Kookaburra chorus and slapstick with horse)

Hey hey, you and I will have a fun day 'Cause the way it has begun Puts the sun into Monday Today I feel free like the wild creatures do With time out to wonder at something that's newwwwwooo Like Monday changing into a Sunday ... with you

Monday was the colour of the sky day Just an emptiness of blue, until you made it my day And now I run free like the wild creatures do With time out to wonder at someone like youuuuoowoo When Monday changes into a Sunday … for twooooo … Monnnnn….

Lyrics for the song which runs over the end credits:

Barney, everyone needs a friend And Barney, you may find in the end Some friends may not be as good As you think they should Or the same as you

A friend is someone Who's a friend to you, Barney And one day Barney When it's all going wrong Someone may just happen along And if that someone will share Your laughter and care Does it matter what they do Because Barney That's a good friend to you

Someone to be by your side When it's not going so good Finding they stay around Just as long as they should Then it will show A real friend, you know

Barney when it's all going wrong Someone may just happen along And if that someone will share Your laughter and care Does it matter what they do Because Barney That's a good friend to youuuu …(musical interlude)

Barney, when it's all going wrong Someone may just happen along And if that someone will share Your laughter and care Does it matter what they do Because Barney That's a good friend to youuuu ...
