Archaelogical digs have found traces of winemaking here going back as far as the Stone Age. Rich soil, the climate, the variety of grapes as well as the traditional wine- making methods have all played a role in the production of the elegant and varied wines produced by the Mukhrani Estate. In ancient Greek times, the clever and diligent population of “Geo-rgia”, meaning the land of farmers, put these rich natural resources to good use. A Founder of new traditions in Georgian Winemaking … With love for wine When Ivane Mukhranbatoni, of the Bagrationi dynasty, returned from France in 1876, where he learned about the fine art of winemaking in the Bordeaux and Champagne regions, he started producing wonderful Georgian wines on the ancestral Mukhrani Estate land. He also introduced contemporary technologies that were already widely used in Europe. The combination of local traditions and new techniques revolutionised the quality of Georgian wine, bringing out all the unrivalled flavours and characters of the local wines. The Finest Wine of Georgia GORULI MTSVANE Dry White 2013 Vineyard & Grapes: 100% Château Mukhrani grapes. All manually treated for pruning and canopy management. Crop size is also controlled by pruning and if needed by so called “Green Harvest”. Vineyards are adjacent to the winery. The crop is manually picked within 7 to 12 minutes before being crushed. Yield: max 8 T/ha, equivalent to 50-55 Hl/ha. Method of harvest: Selective Hand picking to ensure the highest quality of fruit. Vinification: Grapes are transferred into vibrating reception bins and then moved on an extremely gentle conveyor belt to the crusher. Destemming and immediate chilling of the must at 5 to 6°C while transferring for de-juicing or skin maceration under strict inert gas ambient with in-line injection as well as inert conditions in the tank space. Free run separation and juice settling under a temperature controlled environment. Decantation. Fermentation of clear juice at 14 to 15°C using only selected yeast species. Elevage by means of «sur lie». Style balance and preparation for bottling. Colour is green to light yellow straw. The bouquet is rich with white and yellow plum fruit blended with citrus. Best enjoyed at about 10-12°C Alcohol: 12% The Finest Wine of Georgia RKATSITELI Dry White 2011 Vineyard & Grapes: 100% Château Mukhrani grapes. The vines are treated manually. Crop size is controlled by prun- ing as well as by “Green Operations”. The vineyard is just adjacent to the winery. During the harvest, the lead time from grape picking to reception and crushing at the winery lays within 7 to 12 minutes. Yield: max 10 T/ha equivalent to 65-70 Hl/ha. Method of harvest: Selective Hand picking to ensure the highest quality of fruit. Vinification: Grapes are transferred into vibrating bins and then moved on an extremely gentle conveyor belt to the crusher. All manually treated for pruning and canopy manage- ment. Crop size is also controlled by pruning and if needed by so called “Green Harvest”. The vineyard is adjacent to the winery and manually picked within 7 to 12 minutes before being crushed. Yield: average 10 T/ha, equivalent to 65-70 Hl/ha. Method of harvest: Selective hand picking to reach the highest quality of fruit. Vinification: Grapes are transferred into vibrating reception bins and then moved on an extremely gentle conveyor belt to the crusher. Best enjoyed at about 10-12°C Alcohol: 12.5% The Finest Wine of Georgia LATE HARVEST SAUVIGNON BLANC Semi Dry White 2011 Vineyards & Grape: 100% of Château Mukhrani Estate Vineyards. The vines are treated only manually. Crop size is controlled by pruning as well as by “Green Operations”. Vineyards are just adjacent to the winery. The crop is manu- ally picked within 7 to 12 minutes before being crushed. Yield: max 9 tons /ha, equivalent to 60 to 65 HL/ha. Method of harvest: Selective Hand picking to ensure grape highest quality. Vinification: Harvest and reception into vibrating reception bins with extremely gentle grape travelling capabilities to the destemmer. Destemming of grapes and immediate chilling of must at about 5 to 6°C while transferring for de-juicing or skin maceration under strict inert gas ambient. De-juicing followed by juice settling with temperature control. Prevention of oxidation while settling the juice to maximize varietal aroma expression. Decantation of clari- fied juice and its transfer for fermentation. Fermentation continues for 7 to 8 months partially due to the excessive sweetness of the juice as well as natural, cold winter conditions slow it down. Long fermentation imparts the wine with the specific character and makes its structure concentrated, expressive and long lasting. The style balance is done to accentuate on the freshness and complexity of the taste. Late harvest wines are produced from special quality grapes which are the most sound and show the most exquisite character. The colour of pale lemon with golden and green highlights. The bouquet is of citrus and passionfruit. The palate is smooth and silky, but with lively flavours of apricot and melon. Backed with fresh acidity this wine is lusciously rich, well balanced and with great length, bringing a sensation of oomph. Sauvignon Blanc – Wine made from this worldwide known varietal, known for its diversity of character is grown at the Mukhrani Estates, Georgia. This wine is best enjoyed with "Blue" and matured cheeses, dried fruits, tropical and citrus fruit salads, chocolate and vanilla ice-cream.
