NOTE BY THE SECRETARY GENERAL - In accordance with the relevant Articles of the International Treaties on Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances, the Secretary-General has the honour to communicate the following legislative text.

ADDS THE DRUGS SPECIFIED TO THOSE ENUMERATED IN ARTICLE 2 OP THE NARCOTIC DRUGS REGULATIONS, SUPREME DECREE No. 137, of I96O 1/

No. 10,676 Santiago, 26 December 1974* Considering: that the Narcotic Drugs Regulations, Supreme Decree No. 137? of 12 March I96O l/ mention, in article 2 the substances which are deemed to be narcotic drugs and in article 4 authorize the Director General of Health to add to those enumerated in the said article 2, by a resolution to be published in the "Diario Oficial", any new drug or preparation of similar therapeutic action;

that the list given in the said article 2 of the aforementioned Regulations and in the supplementary orders of later date does not include all the drugs which are now classified as narcotic drugs;

that the latter should be considered to include those substances placed under international control by virtue of the corresponding Conventions and, in particular, the Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs, 1961, approved by the National Congress of Chile and adopted for enforcement as a law of the Republic by Supreme Decree No. 35 of 5 January 19^8, and

Considering further, the provisions of articles 9 and 106 of the Health Code and article 72 of the Act No. 10,383, I hereby issue the following Order:

1. The following drugs included in Schedule I of the Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs, 196l, shall be added to those enumerated in article 2 of the Narcotic Drugs Regulations, Supreme Decree No. 137, of 12 March I96O, l/ of the Ministry of Public Health:

2. The esters, and salts of the narcotic drugs mentioned in the previous paragraph shall also be included in the said provision.

3. The following drugs included in Schedule II of the Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs, 19^1, and their salts, shall also he included in the said article 2 of the Narcotic Drugs Regulations:

NICOCODINE PHOLCOPINE

4. Pharmaceutical preparations which are composed of one or more medicinal substances and which contain more than 2 grammes per 1,000 of any of the narcotic drugs specified in paragraph 1 of this Resolution shall also he included in article 2 of the Narcotic Drugs Regulations.

5. This Resolution cancels all previous resolutions on the same subject.
