10 December 2015 Roy Hill Celebrates Historic First Shipment Hancock Prospecting Pty Ltd and Roy Hill Holdings Pty Ltd are pleased to announce the historic inaugural shipment from Port Hedland of low phosphorous iron ore from the Roy Hill mine on the MV ANANGEL EXPLORER bound for POSCO’s steel mills in South Korea. Mrs Gina Rinehart, Chairman of Hancock and Roy Hill Holdings Pty Ltd, said “The Roy Hill mega project is the culmination of hard-work from the dedicated small executive and technical teams at Hancock and more recently by the entire Roy Hill team.” “Given that the mega Roy Hill Project was a largely greenfield project that carried with it significant risks and considerable cost, it is remarkable that a relatively small company such as Hancock Prospecting has been able to take on and complete a project of this sheer size and complexity.” “The Roy Hill Project has recorded many achievements already and with the first shipment it will also hold one of the fastest construction start-ups of any major greenfield resource project in Australia. This is a considerable achievement, and although the media refer to a contractors date for shipment, it remains that the shipment still occurred ahead of what the partners schedule had planned in the detailed bankable feasibility study.” “The performance on the construction gives great confidence we can achieve performance as a player of international significance in the iron ore industry. To put the scale of the Roy Hill iron ore project into perspective in regard to Australia’s economy, when the mine is operating at its full capacity, Roy Hill will generate export revenue significantly greater than either Australia's lamb and mutton export industry or our annual wine exports. -

Yours sincerely Francesca Lee Company Secretary For personal use only A MEMBER OF THE NEWCREST MINING GROUP ABN 20 005 683 625 Explanatory Notes Newcrest Mining 13 February 2015 Annual Mineral Resources and Ore Reserves Statement – 31 December 2014 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Newcrest Mining Limited has updated its Mineral Resource and Ore Reserve estimates for the twelve month period ending 31 December 2014 and for this purpose, has completed a detailed review of all production sources. The review has taken into account updated long term metal price, foreign exchange and cost assumptions, and mining and metallurgy performance to inform cut-off grades and physical mining parameters. This has resulted in the most marginal ounces being removed from the portfolio and these are reflected in changes to Mineral Resources and Ore Reserves. Group Mineral Resources As at 31 December 2014, Group Mineral Resources are estimated to contain 140 million ounces of gold, 20 million tonnes of copper and 130 million ounces of silver. This represents a decrease of approximately 8 million ounces of gold (~5%), 0.4 million tonnes of copper (~2%) and 1 million ounces of silver (~1%), compared with the estimate as at 31 December 2013. -

Case Study: Rio Tinto Iron Ore (Pilbara Iron) Centralized Monitoring Solution of 2007, seven mines all linked by the world’s largest privately owned rail network. CHALLENGES To meet the growing demand for their iron ore, particularly from the ever-growing Chinese market, Pilbara Iron were faced with the challenge of increasing production from their mining operations, or more importantly preventing stoppages in production, while maintaining quality. The last underground historic mine closed in 1954 with continued production locally. The Bendigo Goldfields is Australia's second largest in terms of historical production after Western Australia's Golden Mile (Boulder, Kalgoorlie).1 It produced the largest amount of gold of any field in Eastern Australia and retains the largest evidence of its mining past within the inner city area. The history of mining shaped and created Bendigo. It left a chaotic industrial landscape which was in a state of perpetual flux with seemingly random, scattered, small and often very isolated settlements of people across a wide area.2 The Bendigo goldfields, about 12 kilometres wide, extend 30 kilometres from north to south.
