    From The Telegraph June 4, 2008 Lawrence Dallaglio volunteers for duty at Twickenham again to aid Help for Heroes By Brendan Gallagher Lawrence Dallaglio has absolutely no intention of doing a Frank Sinatra on us but the former England captain and World Cup winner looks set to lace his boots one more time at Twickenham. Dallaglio, less than 72 hours retired, was back at Twickenham yesterday lending his support for a special charity game at HQ on Sept 20 in aid of the injured and maimed British Servicemen who are returning from Iraq and Afghanistan in disturbing numbers. Initially pencilled in as non- playing captain and recruitment officer for the Help the Heroes XV, Dallaglio was on top table when his opposition non-playing captain Scott Gibbs, a firm friend from Lions days and Heroes: Scott Gibbs with Trooper Adam looking fit after recently Cocks, who was injured in Afghanistan and Lawrence Dallaglio training for a marathon, suddenly declared his intention of playing as well. The gauntlet having been thrown down, Dallaglio immediately offered his playing services to Phil de Glanville who will manage the Heroes XV. "Scotty Gibbs always plays to win so if Phil de Glanville needs me on the field as well I'm available," said Dallaglio. "I will also be on the phone later to see if Mr Hill and Mr Back are free and fancy a final run out together. "This is going to be a great day in which rugby people can honour all our unsung British heroes in the Services from all the theatres of war, some of whom pay a terrible price for their country.

INTRODUCTION n a boggy field in 1998, Welsh Rugby Union referee O David Evans made a fateful decision to allow amateur rugby players to proceed with a risky maneuver known as an uncontested scrum.2 The “long, but hard-fought” match be- tween Tondu and Llanharan teams saw several collapsed scrums which left players piled on top of one another.3 Llanha- ran was up by three points and replaced one of their experi- enced players in the front row of the scrum with an inexperi- enced player, thus violating official rugby rules. The picture of myself participating in “Parkour”, apparently a street running sport, is a good example of what we can now achieve with digital media since I have never indulged in any form of street running and as the years pass the chance of me doing so becomes even more remote. What the E-Zine does do so well is to illustrate the role that new technology and more traditional activities such as sport play at Aston. As a school we still insist that all students have an afternoon of sport while the House competition is as eagerly contested as ever but at the same time technology in all of its many guises is pervading every aspect of life at Aston. Perhaps the best example of this is the mural on the staircase wall in the west wing of the old building; if you have not seen it yet please do, but remember that five years ago it would not have been possible. The E-Zine itself is an indication of how the way in which we communicate and learn is changing.

    TREORCHY MALE CHOIR MONACO 2013 By Dean Powell, Publicity Officer & Honorary Archivist MONACO March 1st – March 2nd 2013 As the Treorchy Male Choir entered its 130th year since the original group raised their voices in song at a local public house, choristers have been fortunate to sing before some incredibly prestigious individuals. From the early days of performing for Queen Victoria at Windsor to entertaining Queen Elizabeth II and her family on numerous occasions since, the Choir has enjoyed over a century of royal recognition and approval. However in all that time the Treorchy men have not performed for royalty of other nations, until the wonderful opportunity arose for the Choir to undertake its first visit to Monaco. The invitation came from Mark Thomas, President of the Monaco Welsh Association who launched the first St David’s Day Dinner in 2012. Mark’s late father was Richard “Clem” Thomas, the international rugby player who received 26 caps for Wales, becoming Captain before retirement in 1959. Clem later became a well-known rugby journalist and author who published the first history of the British Lions. Clem’s second son Greg Thomas, who was the media officer for the 2009 British and Irish Lions decided to update his father’s magnus opus as the Lions were approaching their 125th Anniversary in 2013. Together the brothers decided that to mark this occasion they would hold a special St David’s Day Dinner, publish an updated second- edition of the book to launch that night and invite not only celebrities from film and television, but also a whole host of rugby internationals from all of the home nations.

Orden del día: 1) Consideración de la Memoria, Inventario, Balance General, Cuenta de Gastos y Recursos y demás estados contables, e informe de la Comisión Fiscalizadora, correspondientes al ejercicio cerrado el 31 de diciembre de 1999.- 2) Determinación de las cuotas de ingreso y anual de sostenimiento, en un todo de acuerdo con los artículos 5, inc. d), 8 y 9 del Estatuto de la Unión Argentina de Rugby. 3) Renovación parcial del Consejo Directivo: a) Elección por 2 años de: Vice-Presidente 1º, Tesorero y cuatro Vocales Titulares, en reemplazo de los señores Arnaldo Alonso, Jorge Vila Echague, Federico Fleitas, Luis Chaluleu, Alberto Martínez Gambino y Oscar Espinal (quien reemplazó como vocal títular al señor Horacio Vidou, por renuncia de éste), quienes finalizan sus mandatos.
