Prvou Tohtoročnou Projekciou Z Cyklu Music & Film V Kine Lumičre Je TLAČOVÁ SPRÁVA 13. február 2015 Prvou tohtoročnou projekciou z cyklu Music & Film v Kine Lumière je britský film Yessongs Prvou tohtoročnou projekciou v divácky obľúbenom cykle Music & Film v Kine Lumière je záznam z dvoch koncertov britskej rockovej skupiny Yes režiséra Petra Neala. Pod názvom Yessongs sa premietne v stredu 18. februára 2015 o 20.30 hod., štyridsať rokov od premiéry filmu v roku 1975. Film bude uvedený s reštaurovaným obrazom a zvukom DD5.1. Nealov film Yessongs je zostrihom dvoch decembrových koncertov skupiny Yes v roku 1972 v londýnskom Rainbow Theatre. Oba boli súčasťou turné k albumu Close to the Edge, ktorý vyšiel aj v bývalom Československu pod názvom Na samém kraji útesu. „Turné sa začalo 30. júla 1972 v americkom Dallase a skončilo sa 22. apríla 1973 vo West Palm Beach Auditorium na Floride. Bolo to prvé turné Yes s Alanom Whiteom ako bubeníkom, pretože jeho predchodca Bill Bruford kapelu opustil hneď po dokončení nahrávania rovnomenného albumu,“ hovorí Miro Ulman, dramaturg cyklu Music & Film. Vo filme odznie deväť skladieb Yes vrátane ukážok z debutového sólového projektu hráča na klávesové nástroje Ricka Wakemana The Six Wives of Henry VIII. Z albumu Close to the Edge neodznie len záverečná skladba Siberian Khatru. Skupina Yes je priekopníkom v oblasti progresívneho rocku. Má za sebou 47 rokov existencie a 20 štúdiových albumov. Deväť z nich sa dostalo do TOP 10 v USA alebo Veľkej Británii, pričom dva vo Veľkej Británii boli dokonca na prvej priečke. V USA skupina predala 13,5 milióna albumov. „Kapela je známa prepracovanými inštrumentálnymi a vokálnymi aranžmánmi skladieb, ich extrémnou dĺžkou, perfektným koncertným prevedením aj výtvarnou stránkou obalov svojich albumov z dielne výtvarníka Rogera Deana,“ hovorí Miro Ulman a dodáva osobný zážitok: „Na koncerte znejú ako z platne.“ Kapelu v roku 1968 založili spevák Jon Anderson, ktorý sa neskôr preslávil aj spoluprácou s gréckym hudobníkom Vangelisom a sólovými projektmi, ďalej gitarista Peter Banks a basgitarista Chris Squire. Neskôr sa k nim pridali bubeník Bill Bruford a hráč na klávesové nástroje Tony Kaye. Yes zaujali už svojimi prvými platňami zo 70. rokov, a to The Yes Album a Fragile (oba v roku 1971), Close to the Edge (1972), Tales from Topographic Oceans (1973), Relayer (1974) a Going for the One (1977). „Ich komerčne najúspešnejším albumom je 90125 z roku 1983. Z neho pochádza aj singel Owner of a Lonely Heart, ktorý sa stal jedinou skladbou kapely na prvej priečke rebríčka časopisu Billboard,” vysvetľuje Miro Ulman. Aj napriek mnohým zmenám v zložení kapely má skupina Yes stálu základňu fanúšikov. Od februára 2012 pôsobí v zostave Jon Davison (spev), Chris Squire (basgitara), Steve Howe (gitara), Alan White (bicie) a Geoff Downes (klávesové nástroje). V nej sa predstavila i vlani v Bratislave. „Na rozdiel od bratislavského koncertu kapela vo filme vystupuje v tej najlepšej zostave. Tvoria ju Jon Anderson, Steve Howe, Alan White, Chris Squire a Rick Wakeman,“ hovorí Miro Ulman. Dôraz kladie predovšetkým na premiérové uvedenia filmov, ale priestor dáva aj žánrovej klasike. Uvedenie filmu Yessongs je prvou projekciou z cyklu Music & Film v Kine Lumière v roku 2015 po prestávke spôsobenej rekonštrukciou kina (november 2014 – január 2015). The Quest is a strong collection of collaborative compositions posing the great questions of life and finding that we have our destiny within our own hands. Steve Howe says “(Inside Out boss Thomas Waber) is pretty demanding, you can’t fool Thomas.” “He’s knowledgeable about YES fans, and their expectations. He was not going to be happy until we met those expectations.” The music of YES has endured over the years and has been handed down through generations of music lovers. At Sheffield City Hall, in 2018, one fan described how he had first seen YES play the very same venue more than forty years earlier. He was there with his son who had grown up with the music of YES and was as big a fan as his dad. “That’s nice and I’m so glad that’s true,” Steve Howe reflected. “We weren’t just running round doing things, we were doing things that have lasted. That’s because of the collaborations, it’s the team-work that signifies YES.” Until the global pandemic, YES had been touring annually with their Album Series tours, each tour showcasing one of their classic albums in full together with other favourite concert numbers. A good book but unsatisfying on so many levels.By CustomerI wish I could say this was a great book,but it's let down on a few levels.First of all, it relies on too may quotes, especially from Steve Howe, and it becomes more and more boring as it progresses through the years. It can be a humorous book much of the time, but it bounces around between the timeline format, quotes, and the occasional review too often that it really doesn't have a consistent feel. I wish it consistently remained detailed through the entire timeline but it pretty much runs out of steam by the time it hits the late 80s and just begins to rely almost exclusively on quotes and timeline data for the remainder of the book.
