Traineeship Descriptions Brent Museum & Archive A traineeship in the museum and archives, encompassing social media, website management, photography, exhibitions, learning and cataloguing. The trainee will gain key skills in museum and archive handling and preventative conservation along with developing skills in customer service while supervising the Archive search room. Culture & A traineeship in the Culture & team supporting on marketing and PR around public programmes as well as maintaining website, CRM and social media platforms. Working with London Metropolitan Archives on cataloguing and access to Culture& collection and co-producing education events. English Heritage A traineeship with English Heritage focused on developing engaging interpretation for visitors about the organisation’s sites, histories and conservation work, including giving tours and talks; creating written interpretation; working with experts to create digital content and commissioning AV to be presented on site or on the web; as well as using CMS to put that content online. Keats House A traineeship based at Keats House in Hampstead, working on a range of projects celebrating the bicentenary of Keats living at the House. The trainee will engage new audiences with our collections, through social media, website development and outreach exhibitions & events, gaining key skills in cataloguing, digitisation and managing co-curated access projects. Magnum Photos A traineeship working with Magnum Photos across their archive, publishing hub and educational body, encompassing production, archive management and assisting in education events. Museum of Croydon A traineeship in the Museum of Croydon’s digital collections management team; from digitisation, digital asset management and digital archiving, through to access projects which reach new audiences through social media and mobile technology. Museum of London A traineeship working within Conservation and Collections Management teams at the Museum of London. The Trainee will develop skills relating to a wide range of activities including; object handling, policy and procedures used to care for cultural objects, gallery maintenance, inventorying/auditing and the digitisation of collections and records. National Trust London (London Creative Team) A traineeship with National Trust’s London Creative Team working on projects that explore issues of contemporary and future heritage in the capital. The trainee will develop digital and IT skills to support the management of volunteers and staff, commercial events, social media and web content. National Trust London (Sutton House) A traineeship with National Trust’s Sutton House in Hackney. The traineeship will take a focus on digital and IT skills to support the management of volunteers and staff, commercial events, social media and web content. National Trust London (Rainham Hall) A traineeship with National Trust’s Rainham Hall. The traineeship will take a focus on digital and IT skills to support the management of volunteers and staff, commercial events, social media and web content. Royal Academy of Arts A traineeship within the Royal Academy of Arts’ Collections team developing digital skills related to collections information management, encompassing copyright law, image management and data cleaning. Royal Collection Trust A traineeship based with the Collections Information Team at the Royal Collection Trust, which is responsible for the documentation, care, display and interpretation of a large range of works of art as well as the care of Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle and the Palace of Holyroodhouse. The trainee will work across auditing the collection, updating records on CMS, assisting with handling and packaging items, as well as wider activities relating to curating, conservation, learning and marketing. Royal Museums Greenwich A traineeship working across the Conservation and Learning departments at the newly opened Prince Philip Maritime Collections Centre in Kidbrooke. The trainee will learn conservation skills, support collections care and work with staff and volunteers to develop a new public offer for museum audiences. Whilst the post will be based in Kidbrooke, the trainee will also work alongside colleagues at the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich on a weekly basis. Shape Arts A traineeship with Shape Arts focussed on the National Disability Arts Collection & Archive, supporting the development and administration of the project website, online content and social media. Learning will also extend across the organisation with opportunity to assist in cataloguing, event management, wider planning of artistic, learning and youth programmes. Southbank Centre A traineeship working across the Southbank Centre Archive, National Poetry Library and Hayward Art Library with a focus on digital archive development, including online delivery, digitisation, image management and copyright. The trainee will also help facilitate public access through research, displays, events and volunteering, and gain skills around preservation and collections care. William Morris Gallery A traineeship supporting the learning programme at William Morris Gallery, focussing on digital skills, social media and website management, as well as producing digital learning resources. The trainee will also provide administrative support for schools and families programmes including communication with teachers, artists and volunteers. .
