Highland Tay Retreat is a total unique, luxurious and new-to- market property ownership opportunity, yet the foundations to this incredible project go back deep into Scottish history.

Within Highland Tay Retreat lies Taymouth Castle - believed to be the most important Scottish castle in private ownership. The existing Taymouth Castle dates from the 19th century, but the first castle on the site was built in 1550 and was known as Balloch Castle. Taymouth Castle was a far grander building than its predecessor. It included a landscaped deer park, which has formed the basis for the 18-hole, championship length golf course that features spectacular views of the surrounding countryside including the peaks of the range, the gleaming waters of and the lush forest slopes of Drummond Hill. Final additions and alterations were completed in readiness for the honeymoon visit in 1842 of and Prince Albert. Its public rooms are outstanding examples of the opulence and refinement created by the finest architects and craftsmen of the 19th century. The central building with its cloistered colonnade and corner towers dates from 1806 and was built by James and Archibald Elliot. Inside, Francis Bernasconi - acknowledged as the greatest designer of fine plaster work of the era - created a central staircase that soars 100 feet through all four storeys of the central tower and many of the ceilings were painted by Cornelius Dixon. When you visit the castle, you are immediately struck by the almost unimaginable magnificence. Now you can own part of the historic bricks and mortar of this legendary residence. FACILITIES

The retreat’s 18-hole golf course was created in 1925 by famous designer and five time Open Championship winner James Braid in 1925. Braid designed similarly famous courses including Glenagles (host of the Ryder Cup in 2014) and Carnoustie. Now fully upgraded and open, the course is as challenging as it is beautiful.

The , the longest river in Scotland and famous for its Atlantic salmon, runs through the grounds and makes for great fishing. This makes it the perfect location to achieve your very own ‘catch of the day’. Highland Tay Retreat will also feature a luxury spa and pool centre, equestrian centre, clay pigeon shooting and much more. Please contact us for a full list. SUITES 1 - 4
