THE Communion Plate of this Deanery.. includes a considerable number of pieces of some ithportance, from their connection with the owners of, property in the district ; but as regards form and ornament, there is nothing special to record, and the plate-marks are of no unusual variety. There are eleven Elizabethan Cups, and one paten. The Hopton Cup is a good specimen, and must have belonged, at one time, to Hardingham, in Norfolk. Five parishes have plate with armorial beatings; and four others have donors' names; without arms. There is one Norwich piece. The copper-gilt service at Euston is a fine show set, of some historical interest ; and the silver at Bardwell, and Thorpe-by-Ixworth worthily repre- sents the families of Read and Crofts. Offences have occurred on the 29th March, 22nd April, 3rd May and 6th May in the late afternoon. The offender is sometimes using a black and white bike and is described as either mixed race or tanned skinned male, aged late 20's to early 30's and short dark brown hair. We worked with our colleagues from the fire service to evacuate the area, close the roads and secure the arrests of two males, on suspicion of Arson. In the aftermath of the fire we worked with our partners from the fire service and St Edmundsbury Borough Council to secure evidence, make the area safe, offering support to local businesses affected by the fire and to re-open the road as soon as possible to cause minimum disruption to the local community.     Little Ouse at Knettishall A Project Proposal by the Wild Trout Trust - April 2015 1 1. Introduction This report is the output of a site visit to the River Little Ouse on the Suffolk – Norfolk borders at Knettishall. The visit was requested by Penny Hemphill, who is the Water for Wildlife Advisor for the Suffolk Wildlife Trust (SWT). The SWT have been working in partnership with the Environment Agency (EA) to create improved in-channel and riparian habitat to a substantial reach of the Little Ouse and have already completed a phase of improvement works designed and supervised by the late Dr Nigel Holmes. Dr Holmes had already designed a scheme aimed at improving a 0.5 km section of river running upstream from Knettishall Heath road bridge, at National Grid Reference TL 956 807, up to TL 960 809. The project partners are very keen to see the phase of work completed and are looking for support from the Wild Trout Trust to help with the project delivery. The aim of the site meeting and this subsequent report is to review the original project objectives and to agree an implementation plan for delivery later this year. Comments in this report are based on observations on the day of the site visit, references to Dr Nigel Holmes’s original project plans and discussions with Penny Hemphill and Julia Massey, ecologist working for the Environment Agency. Throughout the report, normal convention is followed with respect to bank identification, i.e. banks are designated Left Bank (LB) or Right Bank (RB) whilst looking downstream.

HE ,Parish of Hepworth, in the Hundred of Black- burne, in Suffolk, was, at the time of'the Domesday Survey, situate partly in the Hundred of•Black- burne, and partly in that of Brademere. These two Hundreds subSequently 116 became absorbed in the . double Hundred of Black- ; burne ; and, indeed, from • Domesday itself it would '1111!'l appear that the two Hundreds must, at all events for the purpose -of taxation, have been treated together, as the geld stated to be payable for lands in Brademere Hundred only amounted to 11s. 101d., yet the geld for the two hundreds amounts to £1 19s. 8d. ; that to say, as nearly as may be to £2, the double unit for calculation of the taxation of the double hundred. Mr. Corbett in the able essay on the Domesday Survey in the Eastern Counties, 'for which he obtained the Thirfwall prize for 1892; at the University of Cambridge, calls attention to the. fact that in Abbot Sampson's Calendar, compiled about 100 years later than the Domesday Survey, it is stated that in the double Hundred of Blackburne there were 35 vills or towns divided into THE PARISH OF HEPWORTH, AND ITS RECTORS. 381 14 leets, and shows that each of these 14 leets paid the sum of 341d. ,or thereabouts, or an equal fourteenth share of the geld of £2 properly payable by the double Hundred. The seventh leet of the Hundred comprised Hepworth', Honington, and half of .Ixworth Thorp. In Domesday we find that Hepworth paid 171d., Honington Thorpe 9d.
