WNPL Coaching Profile WNPL Coaching Profile Under 15 WNPL and Youth WNPL Coach: Andrea (Andy) Martin Andy’s life revolves around football and has for over 40 years. Her playing career started in Victoria and being a highly successful player at the elite level resulted in her selection as a powerful leading centre defender in the national team during the late 1970s though to the late 1980s. At the beginning of 2014, Andy was named as central defender in FFA’s Team of the Decade – 1979-1989 having played 10 International games for Australia. Andy’s success as a Matilda, along with the other early pioneers of the sport, paved the way for all future female players to enjoy the highest level of competition and opportunity which is now more readily available to them. Andy is an inspiration to women’s football and is highly motivated in her commitment and passion to developing young and maturing players to reach their potential. With Andy’s move to Queensland, many young players have benefited by Andy’s coaching and her approach to improving player’s technical skills and playing capabilities as well as seeing female players develop themselves both personally and in a team environment. Andy has coached representative girls teams since 2001 and coached women’s teams at club level for many years as well. A number of our current W-League Roar and Matilda players have been coached by Andy: Ayesha Norrie; Sunny Franco; Katrina Gorry; Emily Gielnik; Vedrana Popovic; Clare Polkinghorne Andy is our very own Matilda whose passion for female football is evident and her enthusiasm infectious - we are enormously proud of her and are lucky to have the opportunity for our female players to benefit from her experience and success as a coach. Recent coaching experience includes: U14 RSJPL Girls: Souths United 2010 – 2011 U14 JPL Girls: Souths United 2012 U13 NPL Girls: Souths Strikers 2013 – 2014 Brisbane Womens Premier League: Souths United 2014 Brisbane City League 1: Souths United 2014 Junior Girls Discovery Program: 2014 Accreditation: C Licence. .

The students are here this week representing their School Sports Associations, Schools and families. It is an honour to gain representative status as an athlete and we look forward to the emerging performances of those who may emulate the careers of many of the current and former Matildas, Young Matildas and W-League players who have participated previously at these championships. From this championship the NSW Combined High Schools State teams to compete in the NSW All Schools Tournament during June will be announced for fixtures against Combined Catholic Colleges and Combined Independent Schools. This event also serves as the trials for this year’s National Championships which will be held in Victoria during August. We look forward to some wonderful football with the challenge for all teams to step up to the quality football we saw from last year’s champions, Sydney West who narrowly accounted for Sydney North in the final.
