2009 Season Review

The BYU women’s soccer team finished their 2009 season ranked No. 14 in the county with confidence and the knowledge that they could compete, and win, with other top-ranked teams in the nation. BYU’s offense ranked No. 98 in the country with 38 goals in 24 games, their shutout percentage ranked No. 25 with a total of 13 shutouts and their The Cougars finished their season with an 18-4-2 overall record, going unbeaten in conference play and touting an all-time 245- 73-23 record under head coach Jennifer Rockwood’s 15-year tutelage.

The 2009 squad found themselves facing a talent-stricken schedule with teams around the country. The team started their season in Hawaii where they tied in double overtime. The following weekend, they knew a tie wouldn’t cut it as BYU Head Coach they would be playing two top-25 ranked teams in the Penn State Invitational.
