Wimmer, Steyr, wird die Liste der von Zypern bekannten Mikrolepidopterenfauna um 35 Arten vermehrt und auf insgesamt 496 Taxa ergänzt. First Supplement to the microlepidopteran fauna of Cyprus Abstract: The list of the species of microlepidoptera of Cyprus is increased from 461 species to 496 taxa now in total, especially by the collections of J. Einleitung Schon kurze Zeit nach Erscheinen der Zusammenfassung aller bisher ge meldeten Meldungen über die Mikrolepidopteren Zyperns (Arenberger 1995) liegen wieder zahlreiche noch unveröffentlichte Funde aus Zypern vor. Es handelt sich insbesondere um Aufsammlungen von J. Wimmer in den Jahren 1993-1995 in der Umgebung von Paphos. Die bisherigen Sam melergebnisse bezogen sich einerseits auf den Norden der Insel, der Um gebung von Kyrenia, und andererseits auf das gebirgige Zentrum im Troodos-Gebirge sowie das Küstengebiet des Südens (Karte siehe bei Arenberger 1995). Jetzt können auch Angaben über die Fauna des westli chen Teiles der Insel gemacht werden. Ergänzt wird der vorliegende Beitrag durch restliche Arten aus den Aus beuten K. Mikkolas und des Autors, die bei Arenberger (1995) nicht ein bezogen werden konnten, sowie einige Funde von R. -

G. de viedmal and M. L. els son' Several works on the order Coleoptera have appeared in recent years, some of them creating new superfamilies, others modifying the constitution of these or creating new families, finally others are genera1 revisions of the order. The authors believe that the current classification of this order, incorporating these changes would prove useful. The following outline is based mainly on Crowson (1960, 1964, 1966, 1967, 1971, 1972, 1973) and Crowson and Viedma (1964). For characters used on classification see Viedma (1972) and for family synonyms Abdullah (1969). Major features of this conspectus are the rejection of the two sections of Adephaga (Geadephaga and Hydradephaga), based on Bell (1966) and the new sequence of Heteromera, based mainly on Crowson (1966), with adaptations. -
Lepidoptera of the Tolman Bridge Area (2000-2011)
LEPIDOPTERA OF THE TOLMAN BRIDGE AREA, ALBERTA, 2000-2011 Charles Bird, 8 March 2012 Box 22, Erskine, AB T0C 1G0 [email protected] The present paper includes a number of redeterminations and additions to the information in earlier reports. It also follows the up-to-date order and taxonomy of Pohl et al. (2010), rather than that of Hodges et al. (1983). Brian Scholtens, Greg Pohl and Jean-François Landry collecting moths at a sheet illuminated by a mercury vapor (MV) light, Tolman Bridge, 24 July 2003, during the 2003 Olds meetings of the Lepidopterist’s Society (C.D. Bird image). Tolman Bridge, is located in the valley of the Red Deer River, 18 km (10 miles) east of the town of Trochu. The bridge and adjoining Park land are in the north half of section 14, range 22, township 34, west of the Fourth Meridian. The coordinates at the bridge are 51.503N and 113.009W. The elevation ranges from around 600 m at the river to 800 m or so near the top of the river breaks. In a Natural Area Inspection Report dated 25 June 1982 and in the 1989 Trochu 82 P/14, 1:50,000 topographic map, the land southwest of the bridge was designated as the “Tolman Bridge Municipal Park” while that southeast of the bridge was referred to as the “Tolman Bridge Recreation Area”. In an Alberta, Department of the Environment, Parks and Protected Areas Division paper dated 9 May 2000, the areas on both sides of the river are included in “Dry Island Buffalo Jump Provincial Park”. -

Twenty-three new provincial records are reported and nine species, Uleiota debilis (LeConte), Uleiota dubius (Fabricius), Nausibius clavicornis (Kugelann), Ahasverus advena (Waltl), Cryptolestes pusillus (Schönherr), Cryptolestes turcicus (Grouvelle), Charaphloeus convexulus (LeConte), Chara- phloeus species nr. adustus, and Placonotus zimmermanni (LeConte) are newly recorded in the re- gion, one of which C. sp. nr. adustus, is newly recorded in Canada. Eight are cosmopolitan species introduced to the region and North America, nine are native Nearctic species, and one, Pediacus fuscus Erichson, is Holarctic. All the introduced species except for one Silvanus bidentatus (Fab- ricius), a saproxylic species are found on various stored products, whereas all the native species are saproxylic. -

Selected representatives of Cucujoidea, Cleroidea, Tenebrionoidea, Chrysomelidae, and Lymexylidae were examined. External and internal head structures of larvae ofSphindus americanus and Ericmodes spp. are described in detail. The data were analyzed cladistically. A sister group relationship between Sphindidae and Protocucujidae is suggested by the vertical position of the labrum. The monophyly of Cucujiformia is supported by the reduced dorsal and anterior tentorial arms, fusion of galea and lacinia, and the presence of tube-like salivary glands. Absence of M. tentoriopraementalis inferior and presence of a short prepharyngeal tube are potential synapomorphies of Cleroidea, Cucujoidea and Tenebrionoidea. The monophyly of Cleroidea and Cucujoidea is suggested by the unusual attachment of the M. tentoriostipitalis to the ventral side of the posterior hypopharynx. Cucujoidea are paraphyletic. The families Endomychidae, Coccinellidae and Nitidulidae are more closely related to the monophyletic Cleroidea, than to other cucujoid groups. Separation of the posterior tentorial arms from the tentorial bridge and presence of a maxillolabial complex are synapomorphic features of Cleroidea and these cucujoid families. For a reliable reconstruction of cucujoid interrelation ships, further characters and taxa need to be studied. Zoological Studies 46(3): 311-321. Species of the genus Cucujus from Taiwan, Japan, and China are reviewed. Three known species are recognized: Cucujus coccinatus Lewis (1881), C. haema- todes Erichson (1845), and C. mniszechi Grouvelle (1874). Cucujus imperialis Lewis (1879) is a junior syn- onym of C. mniszechi Grouvelle. Cucujus opacus Lewis (1888) is regarded as a subspecies of C. haematodes Erichson. Cucujus chinensis Lee and Satô, sp. nov. from China and. C. nigripennis Lee and Satô, sp. nov. from Taiwan are described.
