Arrangement for Group Visits to Nan Lian Garden Diamond Hill, Kowloon Background Nan Lian Garden is situated at Diamond Hill of Kowloon, taking in the full view of southeast Kowloon. The Garden and the Chi Lin Nunnery to its north together back into the sprawling northern mountain range. Hammer Hill Road borders the Garden on the east, Lung Cheung Road on the south, and Hollywood Plaza, a large shopping mall, on its west. An MTR station is just opposite the Main Gate. The Garden is a public park of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, with an area of 35,000 square meters. It was designed and built by the Chi Lin Nunnery and the Government has entrusted the Nunnery to manage the Garden for the next five years. The park will be opened to the public on 15 November 2006 from 7 am to 9 am daily. The Garden is built in the ancient style of Tang Dynasty (618 AD to 907 AD), on the blue print of Jiangshouju, the only Tang garden the original architecture and layout of which can still be placed and traced today, and the topological features of which bear a significant resemblance to the Garden site. Hills androcks, waters, plants and timber structures are built and arranged according to specific Tang style and rules, accommodating the local environment, and the best view of the sprawling mountain range to the north is taken as the seamless backdrop. The Garden is a Tang garden built in modern times. Its architecture and landscaping is reminiscent of nature and conducive towards a sense of serenity and tranquility, an ambience in which visitors may enjoy a rare moment of leisure and peace of mind. Visitors can reflect on the profound richness of classical Chinese culture, right in the midst of the urban city hustle and bustle. It is hoped this will help promote the knowledge of and interest in classical Chinese culture. The garden adopts a classical design in its layout- a one-way narrow path winding through the area leads the visitor to various parts of the garden. The path plays the role of a knowing guide, taking one through the best views to see the sights at the best angles. The garden at any one time can accommodate visitors up to about 1,000 visitors. Group Booking After opening, the Garden will be a major attraction for local and overseas visitors alike. Measures will be introduced to enable group and individual visitors to enjoy the visit and to appreciate the tranquility of the Garden. ] - 2 - To facilitate group visit organizers in their planning, all groups over 20 persons are advised to make booking three clear working days (Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays) in advance. Admission to the Garden may not be entertained without a confirmed booking. The Garden has limited parking facilities for tourist coaches. Group organizers with confirmed booking may enjoy a one-hour free parking subject to availability of space. Admission for individual visitors When there is a need to regulate the flow of individual visitors into the Garden, entry coupons will be issued. Coupons will be available at the entrance of the Garden and Nan Lian Garden Service Counter outside exit C of MTR Diamond Hill Station from 8:00 am on a first-come-first-served basis.
