The West Plains High School Zizz- er basketball team is competing this week in the Blue and Gold Basket- ball tournament held in Springfi eld. The tournament dates all the way back to 1947 and has a history of be- ing one of the highlights of every bas- ketball season. The tournament de- rives its name from the two brackets the teams are divided into. The Zizzers, playing in the Gold Division, faced the Spokane Owls in Monday morning’s round one game. While the Owls were at a consider- able disadvantage given that every- one knows they should be sleeping at that time of day, the Zizzers showed no mercy in their 63-49 vic- tory. Taylor Harrison was the top scor- er for the Zizzers with 15. Bristol Wood had 11. Connor Lair turned in another solid performance with 10 points. Daegan Green had 9. Owen Harris and Sean Tinsley each had 5. Jesse Hudson contributed 4 and Aid- en Simpson fi nished the game with 2 points.
