ARTICLE 5A. MECHANICAL CODE

4-5a01. UNIFORM MECHANICAL CODE INCORPORATED. The Uniform Mechanical Code, 1997 edition, including Appendix A, prepared and published by the International Conference of , 5360 Workman Mill Road, Whittier, California 90601-2298 is hereby adopted and incorporated by reference as authorized by K.S.A. 12-3009 to 12-3012 inclusive, for the purpose of establishing rules and regulations for mechanical systems installed or modified in the city and jurisdiction thereof, except as otherwise provided in this article. Not less than three copies of the Uniform Mechanical Code, 1997, shall be marked or stamped “Official Copy as Incorporated by the Code of the City of Ulysses,” and shall be filed with the city clerk to be open for inspection and available to the public at all reasonable hours. Persons charged with the enforcement of this code shall be supplied copies at the cost of the city. (Ord. 1025, Sec. 1)

4-5a02. PERMIT FEES. Table 1A of the Uniform Mechanical Code is amended by deleting the original language and substituting the following:

(a) For the issuance of each permit - $5; (b) For the installation or relocation of each forced-air or gravity- type furnace or burner, including ducts and vents attached to such appliance, up to and including 10,000 BTU's - $6; (c) For the installation or relocation of each floor furnace, including vent; or each suspended heater, recessed wall heater or floor mounted unit heater - $6; (d) For the installation, relocation or replacement of each appliance vent installed and not included in an appliance permit - $5; (e) For the repair of, alteration of, or additional to each heating appliance, unit, cooling unit, absorption unit, or each heating, cooling, absorption or evaporative cooling system, including installation of controls regulated by this code - $6; (f) For the installation or relocation of each or compressor to and including three horsepower, or each absorption system to and including 100,000 BTU's - $6; (g) For the installation or relocation of each boiler or compressor over three horsepower to and including 15 horsepower, or each absorption system over 100,000 BTU's to and including 500,000 BTU's - $10; (h) For the installation or relocation of each boiler or compressor over 15 horsepower to and including 30 horsepower or each absorption system over 500,000 BTU's to and including 1,000,000 BTU's - $13; (i) For the installation or relocation of each boiler or compressor over 30 horsepower to and including 50 horsepower or each absorption system over 1,000,000 BTU's to and including 1,750,000 BTU's - $19; (j) For the installation or relocation of each boiler or refrigeration compressor over 50 horsepower, or each absorption system over 1,750,000 -$30; (k) For each air handling unit to and including 10,000 cubic feet per minute, including ducts attached thereto - $5;

NOTE: This fee shall not apply to an air handling unit which is a portion of a factory assembled appliance, cooling unit, or absorption unit for which a permit is required elsewhere in this code.

(l) For each air handling unit over 10,000 cubic feet per minute - $7; (m) For each evaporative cooler, ventilation, system which is not a portion of any heating or system, for the installation of each hood which is served by mechanical exhaust, including the ducts for such hood, full house exhaust fan or bath exhaust fan - $5; (n) For the installation or relocation of each commercial or industrial type incinerator - $23; (o) For each appliance or piece of equipment regulated by this code but not classed in other appliance categories, or for which no other fee is listed in this code - $5. 4-5a03. AMENDMENT. Flue Pipe Sizing. Section 809-3 para 3 of the 1997 Uniform Mechanical Code is hereby deleted and replaced by the table No. C-8-D as shown in Appendix of the Code. (Ord. 1025, Sec. 1)

4-5a04. PENALTY. Any person whether acting directly or through employees or agents, violating any part or any provision of this article shall upon conviction, be fined not to exceed $100 or imprisoned in jail not to exceed 30 days or both so fined and imprisoned in jail for each offense or violation. Each day that a violation is permitted to exist shall constitute a separate offense. (Ord. 850, Sec. 4)
