The hockey central name includes several programs, including segments broadcast during Sportsnet Central, pre-match reports for Hockey Night in Canada, and other NHL television broadcasts on Sportsnet, CBC, City, and the Sportsnet 590 Hockey Central radio show at noon. Overview Format The typical format of the Hockey Central segments during Sportsnet Central and saturday's show is a group of four people from former NHL players, coaches and GRs along with journalists and hockey stations. Panel members vary from day to day, but usually come from the same small pool as regulars. It is not a is known for (and often his sometimes fiery debates between Bill Watters and Nick Kypreos. In the summer of 2006, presenter Darren Dreger left Sportsnet to join TSN and in 2018, Daren Millard left the network. Jeff Marek and David Amber are the current guests of most of the Hockey Central segments that appear on Sportsnet. Since rogers' 2014-15 rights deal, Hockey Central Saturday replaced Scotiabank Hockey Tonight as the pre-match show for Hockey Night in Canada, which aired in simulcast with Sportsnet and CBC Television. [1] During the 2013 Stanley Cup playoffs, The Score (after Rogers' purchase) aired a nightly Hockey Central Playoff Xtra. [4] Radio versions of Sportsnet radio stations also air hockey-oriented programs under the same or similar titles, often with a focus on news and analysis related to their local teams. Hockey Central on Toronto radio station CJCL broadcasts a radio version of the show, initially known as Hockey Central at noon, which is simulcast by Sportsnet 360. It is currently hosted by Jeff Marek and features Anthony Stewart as an analyst. David Amber makes his place for Marek on Wednesday. The program was originally hosted by Daren Millard. Between August 2010 and March 2011, it was hosted by Greg Brady, who worked the shift from noon to 3:00 p.m. In March 2011, Brady was reassigned to the morning show and Millard returned as a guest. Jeff Marek replaced Daren Millard as host in 2018. When Brady was unable to host Hockey Central at noon, Doug Farraway served as a filling guest. During the summer (mid-June to September) during Millard's first hosting period, Farraway took over the hosting duties from him, with Howard Berger acting as a fill-in for Farraway. In October 2019, as part of changes to the CJCL lineup, the program expanded to two hours. [6] The program has a national focus; CJCL airs a program focused on the Toronto Maple Leafs just before Hockey Central, Leafs Hour, with Ben Ennis and JD Bunkis. Hockey Central 960 CFAC in Calgary broadcasts Hockey Central 960, which is hosted by Kelly Kirch and Peter Klein. The program focuses primarily on covering the Calgary Flames. Canucks Central at Noon CISL in Vancouver broadcasts Canucks Central at noon, which is hosted by Scott Rintoul and Bik Nizzar, and focuses on the Vancouver Canucks. • Edmonton Oilers Improve Home Ice by Humidifying Their Arena
Humidifying to Improve Ice Quality Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta Edmonton Oilers improve home ice by humidifying their arena IMPROVEMENTS IN BOTH ICE AND AIR • Improved ice quality from "three out of ten," according to a 2016 Oilers player, to second-best in the league according to a 2018 vote by players on all NHL teams. • Improved thermal comfort. Orange & Blue Ice Crew remarked that they felt warmer after air moisture—not temperature—was increased in the arena. NEW BUILDING, HIGH EXPECTATIONS The Edmonton Oilers moved to a new downtown arena for the 2016-17 hockey season amid high expectations. Their soon-to-be captain One of 70 atomizing nozzles at the catwalk level of the Rogers Place was healthy again after missing 37 games from injury, average ticket sales were sellouts, and the team would be skating in front of even larger crowds on the high-quality ice that both home and visiting players had come to expect in Edmonton. LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY, ROUGH ICE Upgrades from the old arena to the more spacious Rogers Place made events easier to schedule; more attractive to the talent; and more enjoyable for hockey, music, and wrestling fans. Visitors are first treated to Ford Hall, a 24,000-square- foot atrium with no wall between it and the arena. While beautiful, Ford Hall has a huge impact on the HVAC systems. In the words of Jason Rimmer, Rogers Place director of engineering and ice operations, "it was like having a hole in the side of our arena. We had to compensate in terms of air movement and temperatures." When the first winter set in, a phenomenon called sublimation, or evaporation of the ice, began to take place.

Attachment 1 Page 1 of 29 Attachment 1 INFORMATION REPORT ISSUE: In support of a motion from Edmonton City Council, EEDC undertook consultations with industry stakeholders on the matter of downtown office vacancy rates. This memo serves to inform Administration’s report to Council, document Industry’s comments, as well as provide EEDC’s recommendations on next steps to Administration. BACKGROUND ● With the construction of Rogers Place in Edmonton, a period of exponential growth has occurred in our downtown. Between 2015 and 2019, we are estimating an addition of 1.9 million square feet of new AA office space in our downtown core in a city that historically sees an average absorption of 80,000 square feet per year. This is good news, but presents challenges to the economic stability of our downtown and impacts our city’s competitiveness. Removing barriers to innovation, efficiency, and investment in our downtown core is critical to provide an effective business climate, and alleviate the challenges surrounding high vacancy rates in the heart of our city. ● On October 25, 2016, City Council passed the following motion: o That Administration engage in a discussion with downtown properties owners, Building Owners and Manager Association Edmonton, Edmonton Economic Development Corporation, and other industry stakeholders on ways that the City of Edmonton could explore options with how we can stimulate office tower conversion in the downtown core, and report back to Committee. ● Over the past six months, EEDC has undertaken consultations with over 100 City of Edmonton Administration, staff, and industry stakeholders: One-on-one meetings were held with over 60 stakeholders, and another 46 stakeholders attended a facilitated engagement session in January 2017.
