2017 Canada Summer Games – Team Able-Bodied - Swimmer Nomination

Tour Dates: August 2 – August 13, 2017 Competition Dates: August 8 - 12, 2017 Location: , Team Size: 12 Females and 12 Males Performance Window: LCM Results from March 1, 2017 to April 23, 2017 – from the specific competitions as listed below.

Event Nomination: The 13 Olympic Events are eligible. 1. 50 Freestyle 8. 200 Breaststroke 2. 100 Freestyle 9. 200 Butterfly 3. 100 Backstroke 10. 200 Individual Medley 4. 100 Breaststroke 11. 400 Individual Medley 5. 100 Butterfly 12. 400 Freestyle 6. 200 Freestyle 13. 800 or 1500 Freestyle 7. 200 Backstroke

Nomination Process/Criteria:

1. Nomination: • 12 Females: All eligible swimmers shall be ranked based on their performances as a percentage of the Females 15 Year Old Track 3 time and selected in rank order until 12 individual Females are nominated – in 12 different events. • 12 Males: All eligible swimmers shall be ranked based on their performances as a percentage of the Males 16 Year Old Track 3 time and selected in rank order until 12 individual Males are nominated - in 12 different events. • Tie Break: Where there is a tie between two swimmers the next highest On Track ranked performance – as described above - in another event, for each swimmer, will be used. This process will used until the tie is broken. 2. General: • Year of Birth – Females: 2002 and younger; Males: 2001 and younger. • SNC On Track Times 2017-2020 will be utilized as; Females 15 years Track 3 times and Males 16 years old Track 3 times. • Where an age appropriate Track 3 time does not exist the next age category will be used (ie: Males 17 Year Old 100 Breast.) • Performances will be ranked as a percentage, to three decimal places, using On Track times as described above. • Must be a Swim Ontario registered swimmer as of January 3, 2017. • LCM Performances from March 1, 2017 to April 23, 2017 from the following competitions: Ontario Spring Provincial Championships, Arena Pro Series at Indianapolis, The SNC 2017 Canadian Trials and the 2017 Speedo Eastern/Western Championships are eligible. • Performances done in individual Olympic events only, no relay splits will be considered.

• To be eligible for nomination a swimmer must meet the Canada Summer Games eligibility criteria • Swimmers must confirm their nomination with Swim Ontario on or before 10:00 am, Monday, May 8, 2017; to Darin Muma [email protected] .

4. Event Entries: • Nomination does not guarantee specific event entry. All entries shall be determined at the discretion of the Canada Games Head Coach and the Canada Games Coaching Staff. • Swimmers may swim up to seven (7) individual events at the Canada Games, including the 5 K Open Water Race. 5. Relays: • Relays will be selected from within the team complement, at the discretion of the Canada Games Head Coach and the Canada Games Coaching Staff.

6. Team Ontario Training Camps: • Nominated swimmers are expected to make themselves available as follows: Camp – TPASC, June 9-10, 2017; Staging Camp, TPASC August 2-5, 2017 (TBC).

7. Amendments and Unforeseen Circumstances: • In the event of unforeseen or unusual circumstances, as determined by the Swim Ontario Nomination Committee, the committee shall have the full discretion to resolve the matter as it sees fit, taking into account factors and circumstances that it deems relevant. Any such exercise of discretion shall be subject to the Canadian administrative law principles of fairness.

8. Changes to this Document: • The Swim Ontario Nomination Committee reserves the right to make changes to this document at its discretion. Any changes to this document shall be communicated directly to all potential Canada Games - Team Ontario members and published on the Swim Ontario website forthwith.

9. Appeals: • Appeals are restricted to the alleged failure of the nomination committee to follow the nomination criteria. • Appeals of a decision of the nomination committee must be made within 7 days of the date of nomination. • Appeals must be made in writing to the Executive Director of Swim Ontario. • There is an appeal application fee of $250 that is payable with the notice of appeal prior to any appeal being considered. This appeal application fee is non- refundable.

10. Nomination Committee for Swimmers – Able Bodied: 1. Swim Ontario Performance Programs Manager or designate. 2. 2017 Canada Games Team Ontario - Swimming Head Coach. 3. SOCC Chairperson or designate.
