Travessia (”Crossing”) brings back some of the historical moments of the last few years, narrated from the point of view of Santa Maria da Feira's neighbours. It is a journey that touches identity from the reports, fragments and memories of the neighbours. This collective production constructs a narration that weaves moments that lie dormant in the collective memory, incorporating the local characters and folk legends. The neighbours are both creators and protagonists of their own story in this production that aims to integrate the artistic praxis into the everyday lives of local residents. At the same time, and from the same material, muralist Omar Gasparini will sketch a mural which he will paint with all the neighbours. The mural, to be unveiled at the Festival, is an excellent way of bringing the residents of Santa Maria da Feira together to participate. An avid experimentalist, he has developed his aesthetics of vandalism in interventions and in solo and collective exhibits around the world, on a wide array of media – from stencil painting to the mural sculpture technique – which has projected him as one of the most acclaimed names in world urban art panorama.

Diorama Cork Faktory is a large format sculpture based on the Diorama series, whose scale fills the space of an old factory with links to the cork industry. Its intricate lines express the close relationship between human beings and their working environment, a complex web of mutual influence which gives shape and substance to their bond. Made of cork, the piece explores the juxtaposition between the individual's social and cultural identity and the industrial environment where he plies his trade, while also reflecting on industry's role in the economy and the lack of investment that has plagued Portugal's secondary sector during the last few decades, as well as on the consequences that this abandonment has had on individuals and populations who depend on it. Mainly by Portuguese authors, the texts they stage are mostly non-dramatic works, to which the theatrical form lends a whole different communicability. Ginkgo is a racy outdoor performance with pyrotechnic effects, fire, stilt artists, hanging installations as well as self – composed live music – a composition that creates vivid, haunting and, at the same time, poetic moments. The première took place in Bucharest, Romania, in 2008. Ginkgo has a 360° setting, mostly overhead, for a big audience. Play time is approximately 70 minutes. Its content is linked to the nuclear disaster in 1945. It shows how, even in a seemingly inverted world of egoism, exploitation, ecological devastation and wars, nature puts all its force at any time in living. Catastrophes can´t set back the force of nature. After the atomic strike on Hiroshima, the Ginkgo tree was nothing than a charred stump. However, it started out to new live. On a rather futuristic stage setting, a group of human beings struggles for life. Then they find hope and trust in the invincible, positive power of nature, origin for growth and prosperity. Where do humans find this power? How do we generate it? Is it an already existing, every human inherent power, concealed deep down inside of us, like old and forgotten memories? In an atmosphere of constant changes that we might very well perceive as threatening, our theatre dares to look back on the last six decades and, with this in mind, asks what Hiroshima has changed and whether we can live under the burden of the atomic threat. The tragic nuclear accident 2011 in Fukushima had a tremendous impact on the latest revival of Ginkgo. Ginkgo asks whether it is still possible nowadays to believe in a dignified world worth living in and answers the question positively.

The Ljud group was established in 2006, aiming to bring high quality contemporary art to a wider audience. The Invasion project is a mixture of visual spectacle and interaction between audience and actors, based on non-verbal physical theatre and site-specific live compositions. An interplanetary expedition of immigrants from outer space has landed on our planet. Members of the expedition belong to different alien species, but as a reaction to the Earth atmosphere they have all gained a new protective colour, so that humans would not take them too seriously. Every alien character has its own story, its own ways of communicating, and challenges the public in a different way. The aliens have a special sensibility, seeing the world around us as a completely new and exiting place. In search of a new home, they try to integrate into our society. The Invasion examines questions concerning multicultural societies and the conventions of behaviour in public space. The audience is invited to react spontaneously, become part of the story and join the performers as they explore the border between fiction and reality, establishing theatre as a game, a ritual and a social event. Orquestra Todos – A Lisboan Dream I always thought that the reality of a large city is made of complex relationships that are weaved everyday between people and places. Thus, cities often into laboratories for experimenting with everyday life: being, thinking, living.

Meeting different cultures is, as I see it, an added value that belongs in every city's history. These meetings transform and remodel relationships between people and the very meeting spaces. As maestro Mario Tronco used to say at the concerts by Orchestra di Piazza Vittorio and Orquestra Todos, “Mixing cultures creates beauty. Mixtures and contaminations are one of the basis of contemporary cultures. Naples is unique and fascinating because it's Arab, French, Spanish... Like it's own language, Neapolitan, which contains all those sonorities; even German.”

This project for a Lisboan Orchestra, which was born in the midst of TODOS Festival, sprang from several meetings with Italian Maestro Mario Tronco, during the many concerts by the Orchestra di Piazza Vittorio (OPV) in Lisbon. From those meetings and many exchanges of views concerning the role played by culture in various cities and countries around the world, questions/reflections on art arose: Festival Todos is a place for cultural practices around a multicultural geographic The importance of art and the need for its existence within both individual and territory in the city of Lisbon. Desastronauts are a UK/Spanish contemporary circus company established in 2009. Its members are Girisho (UK) and Raquel Veganzones (Spain). They are both graduates from the Circus Space in London. Raquel specialized in swinging trapeze and Girisho in static trapeze. They originally began working together in London in 2004 where they formed Circo Expreso, an aerial circus company. Desastronauts was formed in Galicia, Spain, representing a move into unexplored space and towards the many, many disasters ahead. Their first project, Losing Grip, was selected by Jeunes Talents Cirque Europe 2010.

Losing Grip is a highly skilled, physically demanding and beautifully presented contemporary circus show. Using original aerial equipment and specially designed Bárbara Andrez was born in 1983. She is a professional actress and a visual harness clothing, the artists attempt a new approach to their discipline. Danger, artist. Her work crosses both universes, focusing on performance and voice. Her trust, balance, agility, strength and endurance become the language of their vision is built on everyday subjects, like feminine issues, and a close connection relationship. Miguel Neto (Lisbon, 1979), musical producer and new media artist has a Degree in Psychological Sciences (FPCE – UL) and a Master of Digital (UPF, Barcelona). He is co-founder of the international art and technology Once Upon A Byte collective, focusing on the Synaesthesia phenomenon and multi sensory experiences and on the creation of interactive interfaces that allow to explore new musical languages, through the use of new digital technologies. Rodrigo Carvalho (Porto, 1983) has a Degree in Design from the University of Aveiro (2001 - 2005). The exhibit takes place in three of the city's structures that are associated with the process of transporting, slaughtering and selling cattle (the old slaughterhouse building, the railway station and a meat counter at the municipal market), where the fact that these structures are now abandoned or practically unused lends a delicious irony to the audiovisual return of Arouquês cattle to those places of yore. By crossing the contemporary dynamics of community theatre with ancient Greek theatre, this work intends to investigate the structure and function of the Greek choir, with a view to developing community artistic processes. As a primordial element which is at the root of theatre's origin, and by articulating ethical, ideological, aesthetic and civic assumptions, the choir could represent a powerful asset for community creation. As a theatrical convention, a character and the fulfilment of a civic, festive theatre like the Greek had, the study of the choir intends to confront concepts and articulate ideas that can lead to its redemption as a base and foundation for the creative process. In order to promote a dynamic dialogue between our ancestral traditions and present time, this research is structured under an interdisciplinary perspective whose goal is to equip the conceptual basis and methodological practices for theatrical work with the community.

biographical note A graduate in Acting/Gestural Theatre by the Estudis de Teatre School (Barcelona), she has a master's degree in Theatre and Community by ESTC (The Lisbon Theatre and Film School). She has worked as an actress since 1993 in various projects with Teatro Meridional, Teatro da Cornucópia, Trigo Limpo teatro ACERT, Quarto Período-o-do-Prazer, Teatro do Morcego, Théâtre de la Mezzanine, Cia Jordi Bertrán, Próxima Estação, among others. She was trained by Marcia Haufrecht, Neville Tranter, Norman Taylor, Alain Gautré,Philippe Gaulier, Christophe Marchand, Claire Heggen e Monika Pagneux in various fields, like movement, clown, buffoon, puppet manipulation, singing and aerial dance. She conceived several projects for the educational services of CCB, Teatro Maria Matos and Culturgest and developed several performances in the area of community theatre, such as Um Elo chamado Jarmelo (with the people of Jarmelo), Cientistas ao Palco (a part of the European Researchers' Night) and Inesquecível Emília (at the Prison of Santa Cruz do Bispo). Recently she has participated in an artistic exchange with community theatre group Pompapeytriasos (Buenos Aires, Argentina). She collaborates with CIAC and is a member of the Community Theatre Researchers Network.
