Abstract The geo-ecological study on diversity of macro flora in Urpad beel has been carried out from January 2018 to December 2018. The study reveals that Poaceae is dominant family among the families in the urpad beel. Diversity of macro flora is decreasing in the study area due to degradation of habit and altering of geo-ecological condition and physico-chemical properties of water by the anthropogenic activities. Human inducing encroachment, agricultural practices and fishing in the beel are greatly altering the ecological conditions and it leads to extinction of some plant spices from the study area. Since, it is surrounded by human habitat tribal villages; it is under great threat of further extinction of biotic community. • Tribal Religion of Lower Assam of North East India
TRIBAL RELIGION OF LOWER ASSAM OF NORTH EAST INDIA 1HEMANTA KUMAR KALITA, 2BHANU BEZBORA KALITA 1Associate Professor, Dept. of Philosophy, Goalpara College, 2Associate Professor, Dept of Assamese, Goalpara College E-mail: [email protected] Abstract - Religion is very sensitive issue and naturally concerned with the sentiment. It is a matter of faith and made neither through logical explanation nor scientific verification. That Religion from its original point of view was emerged as the basic needs and tools of livelihood. Hence it was the creation of human being feeling wonderful happenings bosom of nature at the early stage of origin of religion. It is not exaggeration that tribal people are the primitive bearer of religious belief. However religion for them was not academically explored rather it was regarded as the matter of reverence and submission. If we regard religion from the original point of view the religion then is not discussed under the caprice of ill design.. To think about God, usually provides no scientific value as it is not a matter of verification and material pleasant. Although to think about God or pray to God is also not worthless. Pessimistic and atheistic ideology though not harmful to human society yet the reverence and faith towards God also minimize the inter religious hazards and conflict. It may help to strengthen spirituality and communicability with others. Spiritualism renders a social responsibility in true sense which helps to understand others from inner order of heart. We attempt to discuss some tribal religious festivals along with its special characteristics. Tribal religion though apart from the general characteristic feature it ushers natural gesture and caries tolerance among them.

CIBTech Journal of Zoology ISSN: 2319–3883 (Online) Online International Journal Available at http://www.cibtech.org/cjz.htm 2020 Vol.9, pp.30-35/Borah and Das Research Article [Open Access] ICHTHYOFAUNAL DIVERSITY OF JINARI RIVER IN GOALPARA, ASSAM, INDIA Dhiraj Kumar Borah and *Jugabrat Das Department of Zoology, Goalpara College, Goalpara, Assam, India, *Author for Correspondence: [email protected] ABSTRACT The present study attempts to access the ichthyofaunal diversity of Jinari river in Goalpara district of Assam, India. There was no previous report on piscine diversity of this river in Assam. Survey was conducted in the lower stretch of the river in Goalpara district from April 2018 to March 2019. Fish specimens were collected from five pre-selected sites, preserved and identified adopting standard methods. A total of 74 fish species belonging to nine (9) orders, 26 families and 58 genera were recorded. Cypriniformes was the dominant order with 35 species followed by Siluriformes with 19 species. IUCN status shows two vulnerable, eight near threatened and 66 species under the least concern category. Prevalence of anthropogenic threats like garbage dispersal and agricultural pesticide flow to the river, setting of brick industries on the bank, poison fishing in the upper stretch etc. may affect the fish population in this river. In this regard, awareness is the need of the hour among the inhabitants of the surrounding villages. Keywords: Ichthyofauna, Jinari River, Goalpara, Brahmaputra River, Assam INTRODUCTION The Northeastern region of India is considered to be one of the hotspots of freshwater fish biodiversity in the world (Ramanujam et al., 2010).

  • Mathematical Model on Spatio-Temporal Variation of Criminal Activities Ruhul Amin Associate Professor Dept
International Journal of Mathematics Trends and Technology (IJMTT) – Volume 65 Issue 7 - July 2019 Mathematical Model on Spatio-Temporal Variation of Criminal Activities Ruhul Amin Associate Professor Dept. of Mathematics, West Goalpara College, Assam Abstract: Spatial and temporal analysis is an essential component of crime related events. Such analysis plays a vital role in a lot of security- related applications. This helps to provide information to lead the activities aimed at stopping, detecting and responding to security problems. Crime prone area is identified based on the spatial location. But some crime occurs in the urban residential area based on the temporal factors also. This study carried out to evaluate the spatio-temporal variation of criminal activity in two specific area of North-East India. Keywards: Spatio-temporal, Variation, Correlation Coefficient. Introduction The problem of crime is a major issue faced by all mankind. In India, research in criminology is very much neglected among social sciences despite rapid increase of crime and violence which pose a great threat to our nations. The large variance of crime rates across space due to social interactions is a remarkable confusion in social sciences. These spatial variations of crime behaviour are higher in urban area than rural area of world. The spatio-temporal variation of crime analysis is a key task that extracts information and knowledge from location and time referenced data and creates knowledge for crime pattern analysis. The main goal of spatial-temporal crime pattern analysis is to find the spatial and temporal crime pattern and then use the patterns to help tracing the main cause of crimes.
