DEPTH CHART ON PAGE 60; ROSTER ON PAGES 61-62 STAT OF THE WEEK Markques Simas has been on fire the last three games with 25 total receptions; he tied the school record for the most consecutive games with seven or more catches with three. What about the 25 catches in a three-game span? The third most in school history, and he joins some pretty good company. The most catches in a 3-game span in CU history: 27—Charles E. Johnson, 1992 (at Missouri 11-168; vs. Oklahoma 8-182, vs. Kansas State 8-104) Four game best: 30 26—Michael Westbrook, 1992 (vs. Colorado State 7-130, at Baylor 11-186, at Minnesota 8-135) Four game best: 28 25—Markques Simas, 2009 (vs. Texas A&M 7-135, at Iowa State 7-128, at Oklahoma State 11-92) Four game best: 28 Simas is already tied for the fourth most catches over four games with 28, trailing 30 by Johnson (1992) and Derek McCoy (2003) and 29 by D.J. Hackett (2003). OBSCURE NOTES OF THE WEEK ¾ PK Aric Goodman has now had the unfortunate luck of hitting seven uprights during career (he even asked if that was some kind of record); well, we don’t track that, but he has 91 career kicks at Colorado. Thus seven hitting the upright is at a rate of one of 13 or at a 7.7 percent clip; but six have hit the upright of his 15 missed field goals (40 percent). ¾ Despite being outgained by some 770 yards on the season, Colorado actually has the same number of 10-plus yard gains (136) and owns the edge in five- plus yards (295-284) over the opponent. ¾ The Buffs at times have played some terrific defense, especially in their own territory. This year’s dates: Sept. 8-15-28 (Monday), Oct. 6-13-20-27, Nov. 3-10-16 (Monday)-23 (Monday), Dec. 1-Dec. TBA (bowl). NOTE that there is no organized press luncheon on Sept. 22 (bye week). The press conference portion of the luncheon is streamed live on www.CUBuffs.com (in the BuffsTV area); all press conferences on CUBuffs.com are free and thus do not require access codes. ¾ Hawkins can be heard Mondays (Aug. 31-Nov. 30) on the Big 12 Teleconference Call at 10:40 a.m. MT. Special requests can also be made through CU’s BuffVision (Deric Swanson or Eric Pelloni: 303-735-3637). ¾ The Colorado lockerroom (home and road) is closed after games; following the customary 10-minute cooling off period, players will be made available (a list of players will be solicited immediately following the game; no cutoff to request players). ¾ Colorado’s regular season football practices are closed to the general public (exception: Sundays) but are open to the media (exception: Thursdays). The 11th through 30th minute of practices Tues.-Wed. (all of Sun.) in-season are open for photo/video needs from the end zones and sidelines. All parameters listed in CU media policies. ¾ This year’s standard meeting/practice schedule (mountain time, pre-time change): Sunday (3:15-5:00, 5:15-6:15); Monday (off); Tuesday (2:30-3:40/4:00-6:30), Wednesday (2:30-3:40/4:00-6:30), Thursday (2:30-3:40/4:00-5:45), Friday (3:00-4:00, evening meetings). ¾ Interviews with Colorado players are allowed post-practice on Sundays, pre- and post-practice on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and pre-practice Thursdays (the cutoff moves up to pre-Wednesday practice for Thursday/Friday games). Phone interviews with out-of-town media are allowed all four days in all time slots.

    Big 12 Conference Schools Raise Nine-Year NFL Draft Totals to 277 Alumni Through 2003 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Apr. 26, 2003 DALLAS—Big 12 Conference teams had 10 of the first 62 selections in the 35th annual NFL “common” draft (67th overall) Saturday and added a total of 13 for the opening day. The first-day tallies in the 2003 NFL draft brought the number Big 12 standouts taken from 1995-03 to 277. Over 90 Big 12 alumni signed free agent contracts after the 2000-02 drafts, and three of the first 13 standouts (six total in the first round) in the 2003 draft were Kansas State CB Terence Newman (fifth draftee), Oklahoma State DE Kevin Williams (ninth) Texas A&M DT Ty Warren (13th). Last year three Big 12 standouts were selected in the top eight choices (four of the initial 21), and the 2000 draft included three alumni from this conference in the first 20. Colorado, Nebraska and Florida State paced all schools nationally in the 1995-97 era with 21 NFL draft choices apiece. Eleven Big 12 schools also had at least one youngster chosen in the eight-round draft during 1998. Over the last six (1998-03) NFL postings, there were 73 Big 12 Conference selections among the Top 100. There were 217 Big 12 schools’ grid representatives on 2002 NFL opening day rosters from all 12 members after 297 standouts from league members in ’02 entered NFL training camps—both all-time highs for the league. Nebraska (35 alumni) was third among all Division I-A schools in 2002 opening day roster men in the highest professional football configuration while Texas A&M (30) was among the Top Six in total NFL alumni last autumn.
