YOU JUST FOUND A GEM! AmiKit RELOADED (v9.0) for macOS X (10.8+) Now it’s super fast and includes the “Rabbit Hole” which allows you to launch Mac apps from AmiKit desktop! AmiKit is a high-end add-on for Amiga Operating System. It contains more than 350 of the finest Amiga programs. Support available at forum.amiga.sk REQUIREMENTS AmigaOS ISO image (Amiga Forever or OS XL or OS3.9 or OS3.5) Kickstart ROM 3.1 file (included with Amiga Forever as amiga-os-310-a1200.rom) Btw. did you purchase Amiga Forever and all you got is a Windows-only installer? No worries, you can create Amiga Forever DVD ISO image easily with a trial version of CrossOver. In CrossOver select "Install a Windows application”, type "Amiga Forever", and select "unlisted application". Now select "Choose installer file" and point to your purchased AmigaFoerver2016Plus.msi file. Once Amiga Forever is installed and running, select Tools -> Build Image option and build your ISO image. INSTALLATION It requires a little bit of effort, but once it’s done you can fully enjoy your AmiKit on Mac. STEP 1 First of all, install the included XQuartz package. It is a required component that allows cross-platform apps to run on the macOS. (Note: the included version is 2.7.9 because the newer versions .10 and .11 don’t display fonts well) STEP 2 Now install AmiKit by simply moving the “AmiKit” app to your Application folder. STEP 3 Import the Kickstart ROM 3.1 file (included with Amiga Forever as amiga-os-310-a1200.rom) so that the emulation can run. Go to your Application folder, right-click the “AmiKit” app and select “Show Package Contents”. Go to Contents > MacOS > AmiKit.bottle > drive_c > AmiKit > ROMs folder and copy the Kickstart ROM file (and the rom.key) there. Rename it to “kick.rom” so that AmiKit can find it. STEP 4 Now it’s time to run AmiKit! Double-click your “AmiKit” app. If it refuses to launch, you probably have to “Allow apps downloaded from Anywhere”. Choose System Preferences from the Apple menu and the Click Security & Privacy settings. If you don’t see the “Anywhere” option there, quit out of System Preferences, open the Terminal app from your Applications/Utilities folder and enter the following command: sudo spctl —master-disable Hit return and authenticate with your admin password. Now go back to the Security & Privacy settings and click the “Anywhere” option. Double-click the AmiKit again. It should run now. STEP 5 Click the CONFIGURE button as we need to import the required system files to AmiKit first. A WinUAE config panel will appear and you will need to tell WinUAE the location of the ISO image containing your Amiga system files. Select the "CD & Hard drives" section under "Hardware". Click the button and “Select image file” (near the bottom of the window) to browse for the ISO image. Expand "My Computer" and select the Z: drive. Browse to the Users/YourProfileName folder to access files on your Mac. Find and select the ISO image and click "Open". Click the "Start" button at the bottom of the WinUAE window and follow the prompts. When installation is complete, AmiKit will reboot and is ready to use! TRICKS & TIPS Curious what all those buttons mean? To enable full “Rabbit Hole” experience in 3 simple steps (to run Mac apps on AmiKit desktop) 1) Run MorpheuZ located on AmiKit desktop and select Screen Mode. If you have Macbook or Macbook Air, select 1280x800 screen mode. If you have Macbook Pro, select 1680x1050 screen mode. Then click Apply, select Visible taskbar and reboot AmiKit. 2) Now press F12 (or Fn+F12 on a Mac with Touchbar) to display WinUAE config panel. Go to Display options and change RTG from Windowed to Full-window (not Fullscreen). You might want to save your new settings. Go to Configurations and click the Save button. 3) You might also want to hide your Menu bar as well as Dock. Choose System Preferences from the Apple menu and click General and enable ‘Automatically hide and show the menu bar’. Then go back and click Dock and enable ‘Automatically hide and show the Dock’. Now you can enjoy your Mac apps on AmiKit desktop. Note that they always disappear if you click on AmiKit desktop again. Simply use Command+Tab to display them again. To quit the emulation press Control+F11 (on a Mac with TouchBar, press Fn+Control+F11). Or, in AmiKit itself, click the task bar and select Shut Down. To display WinUAE config panel while the emulation is running, press F12 (or Fn+F12 if you have a Mac with TouchBar). If Mac Dashboard is displayed instead, you have to disable this shortcut first. Choose System Preferences from the Apple menu. Click Keyboard and select the Shortcuts tab. Click the Mission Control from the left column and disable Show Dashboard assigned to F12 in right column. To enable WHDLoad support (so you can play WHDLoad games, eg. full version of Deluxe Galaga), copy the Kickstart 3.1 ROM (included with Amiga Forever as amiga- os-310-a1200.rom) to AmiKit\Devs\Kickstarts folder, and rename it to ’kick40068.A1200'. Also, if you have a Kickstart 1.3 ROM (included with Amiga Forever as amiga-os-130.rom), copy it there too, and rename it to ’kick34005.A500'. For more information read this page. Switch between fullscreen and window mode with Control+F12 (or Fn+Control+F12 if you have a mac with TouchBar) CREDITS © 2005-2017 AmiKit is designed and maintained by Ján Zahurančík and contributors.
