Nesterovic was the captain of the senior men’s Slovenian national basketball team until his retirement from the national team in 2008. He helped his national team finish in 6th place at the EuroBasket 2005 in Belgrade, and to thus secure a place at the 2006 FIBA World Championship.

Andrej Bertoncelj POVZETEK V zaključni projektni nalogi sta obravnavana management v športu oziroma športni management in pomembnost stabilnega financiranja v športu. Oblika financiranja je tudi sponzoriranje, ki je eden izmed pomembnejših dejavnikov, ki vplivajo na uspešnost, stabilen razvoj in obstoj športnega kluba. V teoretičnem delu naloge so predstavljeni splošna opredelitev managementa, športni management in njegove naloge ter oblike. Predstavljene so tudi oblike financiranja v športu s poudarkom na sponzoriranju. V empiričnem delu naloge je predstavljen športni košarkarski klub Union Olimpija, njegovo poslovanje v zadnjih nekaj letih, skozi intervjuje so prikazani pogled na razmere v klubu, pri tem je večji poudarek na sponzorjih, in dejavniki, ki ovirajo boljšo uspešnost kluba, ki se zadnja leta sooča z velikimi težavami. Ključne besede: management, športni management, financiranje v športu, športni klub, sponzoriranje. SUMMARY This thesis deals with sports management and the importance of stable financing in sport. Sponsorship as a type of financing is one of the crucial factors of success, stable development, and even the existence of a sports club. The theoretical part provides a general definition of management, sports management, its tasks and forms. It also discusses the forms of financing in sport, especially sponsorships. As for the empirical part of the thesis, it presents the Union Olimpija Basketball Club and its operation in recent years.

En dus is het antwoord op deze veel gestelde en begrijpelijke vraag toch heel simpel: we gaan weer voor de prijzen en we willen graag overwinteren in Europa. Maar dat gaat natuurlijk niet vanzelf. We moeten allemaal elke geleerd van het volle programma van vorig seizoen (bijna zestig dag opnieuw bezig zijn met het neerzetten van een perfecte wedstrijden!) en dus is er voor gekozen om het team in de breed- organisatie waarin iedereen optimaal kan werken en presteren. te te versterken om met een grotere rotatie te kunnen spelen. Daarnaast wordt het ook dit seizoen weer keihard werken om de begroting te halen en het liefst nog wat te groeien in omzet.
