This is what Annie learned in her meetings with students and adults There has been much debate between Mac lovers and PC users, but this during her Day of Power. article will hopefully reveal the benefi ts of being a Mac user and why it is a good decision to invest in this innovative technology. First of all, a Mac is actually a PC, which stands for “Personal Computer,” but for the purpose of this article non-Macs will be referred to as PCs. From the moment it’s out of the box, a Mac is ready to use. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said about most PCs, where one fi rst has to erase the trial software, open other boxes for the rest of the materials, and purchase and download anti-virus programs. Macs typically remain virus- free throughout their use, since PCs have been around much longer and dominate the market, so malwares and spywares target PCs instead. Due to the massive security problems PCs suffer, security programs lead to the incessant pop-up box asking the user to “Allow” before moving on to the next internet page. A Mac computer is far more versatile than PCs in terms of the software they can run. Built-in programs such as iPhoto, iMovie, iTunes, iWeb all work together to create an easy and simple media experience, known as “iLife.” Its fast advancing and straightforward technology is a great advantage. Users need no instruction to fi gure out how to use a Mac. People concerned about the more limited choices in Mac software should know that not only can Mac computers Photo by Diana Hong and Ciara Jacques run Mac programs, but they can run Windows as well.
