LHHS DRESS CODE LHHS is a high-achieving high school. We expect our students to be dressed for an academic atmosphere of purposeful learning and responsible citizenship. Students should observe modesty and neatness in clothing and personal appearance. These guidelines will help you make good choices about what your child can wear to school. Please note that the principal and the principal's designee has total discretion in determining the appropriateness of dress or grooming that is not considered to be part of, or conducive to, the school learning environment. All clothing must be worn in an appropriate and tasteful manner, and as originally intended by the designer. For example, belts (if worn) must be worn around the waist; shirts or headbands will not be worn around the neck; suspenders or overalls will not be worn with straps down; shirts must be buttoned so the chest is not exposed, shoes must be fastened/tied; etc. Clothes may not be worn inside out or backward. Abusive, suggestive or profane language; symbols of illegal substances; or any other words, symbols or slogans that disrupt the learning environment may not be worn on clothing or as jewelry. Students are required to wear shoes at all times for health and safety reasons. Appropriate clothing, such as gym clothes and tennis shoes, will be needed for the requirements of athletics and physical education classes. Leggings, yoga pants, jeggings, fitted athletic pants may be worn as long as the student’s top covers their bottom. Hats, do-rags and other headgear is not allowed to be worn on campus. Headgear that is worn for medical or religious reasons is permitted. Shorts and skirts must be fingertip length or longer - even if you are wearing leggings or tights underneath. Shirts that expose the stomach or are low cut in front, back, or sides; and shirts that are excessively tight or see-through are not allowed. Tube tops and dresses that do not cover the shoulders are not permitted. Destructed styled jeans with holes, rips and frays are allowed as long as the holes, rips and frays are below the knee. Leggings or shirts must be worn underneath the jeans if the holes, rips or tears are above the knee. Shirts and tops worn with shorts that completely cover the shorts are not permitted. Shorts must be able to be seen from the front, back and sides. .
