What sport flavors its season more than college football? For all its difficulties, college football is a symbol of romance to Americans everywhere. They cannot sit in stadiums with out a reaction to its legends. At Stetson, there is the recollection that the Green and White flew victoriously in the first intercollegiate football game ever played in Florida. Far-separated victories over Florida and Auburn overshadow the many defeats by these football powers. Stetson holds a 4-4-2 all-time record with , but the Hatters are no longer in the same class with our Southern neighbors. A few years ago the Stetson-FSU rivalry was one of the keenest in the state. The Stetson-Rollins games also were steeped in tradition. FSU has gone big-time and Rollins has dropped football. Surely there is a place in the American picture for small college football—football for the love of the game and the many benefits it provides.
