Governance & Legal Room 2.33 Services Franklin Wilkins Building 150 Stamford Street Information Management London and Compliance SE1 9NH Tel: 020 7848 7816 Email: [email protected] By email: 8th September 2015 Dear , Request for information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (“the Act”) Further to your recent request for information held by King’s College London, I am writing to confirm that the requested information is held by the university and a copy is enclosed with this letter. Your request We received your information request on the 1st September 2015 and have treated it as a request for information made under Section 1(1) of the Act. You requested the following information: “I am writing to request information about any relationships that the university has with the following Israeli academic institutions: - Hebrew University of Jerusalem - Technion - Israel Institute of Technology - Weizmann Institute of Science - Bar-Ilan University - Tel Aviv University - University of Haifa - Ben-Gurion University of the Negev - Open University of Israel (OPENU) - Ariel University If the university does have links with any of universities (including, but not limited to, joint/collaborative research, exchange programs, and joint courses) it would be useful to know: - the nature of the relationship - the details of any financial relationship involved - the start and expected end date of the relationship.” Our response Since 2010, the university has put in place several one-to-one agreements with some of these bodies to enable the exchange of confidential information (CDAs) or the exchange of material to allow academic research to be carried out (MTAs). There is also one agreement to enable mutual research collaboration. There is no financial relationship with regards to these arrangements, and further details are enclosed as a spreadsheet. Please note that with regards to the last three agreements (highlighted in yellow) this is one agreement with two amendments to allow for further materials to be exchanged on the same terms. As regards externally funded research awards, we have four projects where one of the organisation listed above is a collaborator on a project funded by another organisation. In one instance, the Technion (Israel Institute of Technology) is receiving funding from the university from the main grant. We also have one other award that is actually funded by one of these bodies, the Weizmann Institute. Further details are enclosed as a spreadsheet. Please note, that as one EU project can have up to thirty collaborators, we do not record the names of all the collaborators on our databases. However, this information is publically available on the EU’s CORDIS web site (http://cordis.europa.eu/home_en.html). The university does not have any current connections with Israeli institutions within the work conducted by the Global Engagement Department. Furthermore, the university does not have any student mobility or collaborative provision agreements in place with the institutions listed above. This completes the university’s response to your information request. Your right to complain If you are unhappy with the service you have received in relation to your information request or feel that it has not been properly handled you have the right to complain or request a review of our decision by contacting the Legal Compliance Manager within 60 days of the date of this letter.
