IowaWINS (Iowa Welcomes Its Immigrant Neighbors) reports that 21 of the 32 men arrested by ICE on May 9th, 2018 are free on bond and awaiting immigration hearings and work permits. Seven men have been deported and several are currently being held by ICE in detention. There is a great need for continuing support for the families, both in finances and food supplies. The First Presbyterian Church, 902 South Walnut, Mt Pleasant, 52641, with the help of parishes and individuals, have fundraising events planned as funds are running low. Suggested pantry supplies needed are; vegetable oil, plain pastas, canned fruits and vegetables, salt, sugar, laundry detergent, dish soap & personal health care products. Davenport Diocese Ordinations On Saturday, June 1st at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Davenport, Deacon Terry Ball from St. Joseph's Parish in Hills, and Deacon Scott Foley from St. Mary's Parish in Williamsburg, will be ordained to the priesthood for the Diocese of Davenport. Mr. James Flattery, of Immaculate Conception Parish in Colfax will be ordained to the diaconate. All members of the Diocese of Davenport are welcome to attend the ceremony which begins at 10:00AM. If you have a love of Jesus and your Catholic faith and are interested in sharing that with the children of our parish, we’re in need of K-5 lead, team & assistant catechists for the 2019-2020 year of religious education.
