FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE NOVEMBER 1, 2011 RIVER ROCK CASINO RESORT PRESENTS JAY MOHR FRIDAY, MARCH 30 Richmond, BC – With a career that has spanned over three decades, comedian, actor, radio host and best-selling author Jay Mohr has become an artist that is difficult to define. Never wanting to rest on his accomplishments, Mohr has always pushed himself to be more than just a comic. The multi-talented New Jersey native first received audience notice with his dead-on impressions of Christopher Walken, Tony Bennett, Ricki Lake, Dick Vitale and Sean Penn after landing his dream job as a writer and featured performer on NBC’s Saturday Night Live in 1993. He then went on to make his mark on the big screen with his breakthrough film role as a rival agent to Tom Cruise in 1996’s blockbuster hit, Jerry Maguire. The following year, he starred opposite Jennifer Aniston in the film, Picture Perfect. He returned to television in 1999 starring in the lead role of fictional Hollywood producer “Peter Dragon” on FOX’s critically acclaimed series, Action. In 2003, Mohr created, produced and hosted NBC’s smash hit reality competition series, Last Comic Standing. Three years later, he joined the cast of CBS’s Ghost Whisperer where he played the role of “Professor Rick Payne” before leaving in 2008 to star in his own series entitled Gary Unmarried … the situation comedy aired on CBS for two seasons. As an author, Mohr’s first book, Gasping For Airtime: Two Years in the Trenches of Saturday Night Live was a memoir of his two years on SNL and was released by Hyperion Publishing in 2004. Last year, Simon & Schuster released Mohr’s second book, No Wonder My Parents Drank: Tales from a Stand-Up Dad which describes in beautifully funny detail the pros and cons of parenthood. Mohr has also enjoyed a successful radio career as guest host on the nationally syndicated The Jim Rome Show. Most recently, he starred in Clint Eastwood’s thriller Hereafter opposite Matt Damon.
