(3) Acknowledges that owner-drivers are vulnerable to exploitation, as they typically report to a single principal who has significant leverage over their livelihood.

739 HUNTER LEUKAEMIA FOUNDATION DR ANDREW MCDONALD to move— That this House: (1) Acknowledges the great work of the Hunter Leukaemia Foundation. (2) Notes that during induction treatment, patients with leukaemia may have to stay within 30 minutes of the Newcastle Mater Hospital and that some patients may have to seek accommodation within 30 minutes of the Newcastle Mater Hospital if they live outside that distance. (3) Notes that many patients live further than 30 minutes away, but less than the 100 kilometre away, the distance required to claim the IPTAAS allowance. (4) Calls on the Minister to allow payment of the IPTAAS allowance for these patients on their doctor's instructions.

(2) Notes that parents enrolling their children at Elermore Vale, Waratah and Cardiff South preschools will have to find the funds from already tight family budgets to pay the higher fees. (3) Notes that this increase is a big disincentive against educating Hunter children in their formative years.

(3) Recognises the contribution Solaris has made to the generation of jobs in Western Sydney through their Greystanes paper mill. (4) Notes that Greenpeace, the World Wildlife Fund and GetUp! have campaigned to stop retailers using Solaris products claiming that the paper is stocked from illegal logging. (5) Notes that Solaris timber is certified by independent auditors and expresses disapproval of Greenpeace and the other organisations for their campaign against Solaris.

2464 SELECT COMMITTEE ON THE DIGITAL ECONOMY MR ALEX GREENWICH to move— That this House: (1) Appoint a select committee to inquire into and report upon how the State Government could assist small business to attain a greater benefit from the digital economy. (2) In undertaking its inquiry, the committee is to examine the following: (a) The extent to which small businesses in New South Wales use Information Communication Technology to access global business opportunities; (b) How governments around the world, including in Victoria and states of the of America are helping small business to access the global market through Information Communication Technology; (c) Whether State Government assistance to embrace the digital economy would help drive productivity and economic growth in the New South Wales small business sector; and (d) How existing New South Wales e-commerce businesses can play a mutually beneficial role in providing guidance, support, and mentoring to the small business sector. (3) The Committee consist of five members as follows: (a) Two members from the Government; and (b) Three non-government members, one of which is to be the member for Sydney. (4) The committee shall be chaired by the member for Sydney. C523 KENNETH KELL RECOGNITION MR STEPHEN BROMHEAD to move— That this House: (1) Congratulates 90-year-old Kenneth (Ken) Kell of Forster who will make a trip to Papua New Guinea to mark the 70th anniversary commemoration of the iconic World War II campaigns as a veteran of the Kokoda and the beachheads battles. (2) Notes that Ken enlisted in the Second AIF in November 1939 and was on the first Australian convoy to the Middle East, arriving in February 1940 as a member of the 2/1st Field Regiment, where his first experience of war was the Battle of Bardia against the Italians in Libya. (3) Notes that Ken returned to Australia in 1942 then went to Port Moresby and waited to be sent forward and took the opportunity to fly with the "biscuit bombers" that provided supplies to Australian forces in the Owen Stanley Range. (4) Notes that from December 1942 Ken served with his regiment during the Battle of the Beachheads where his strongest memory of the war is the relentless hard physical labour of being a gunner, carrying ammunition and other heavy loads which frequently reduced his battery members to exhaustion. (5) Notes that the guns of the 2/1st supported first American, then later Australian infantry, in their attacks on Buna which fell in early January 1943 which he wrote about in his book "The Early Years". (6) Notes that his final campaign was Aitape-Wewak in 1945. (7) Notes that on discharge he joined the NSW Fire Brigade and rejoined the army from 1950 to 1967 and in 1953 went to England with the Coronation Contingent. (8) Notes that he completed a horticulture course and worked as a gardener until his retirement. (9) Recalls the service and sacrifice of Australian, Papua New Guinean and allied service personnel in the Battle for the Beachheads which are commemorated at the Popondetta Memorial in Papua New Guinea. (2) Notes that in the final Belmonte won a three match thriller against USA rival Sean Rash. (3) Recognises that Jason Belmonte's feats in the ten pin bowling lanes helps promote Orange and wishes him well in future tournaments.

C570 ORANGE KENNEL CLUB DOG SHOWS MR ANDREW GEE to move— That this House: (1) Congratulates Orange Kennel Club president John Wills, secretary Helen Woods and the club's members on conducting successful shows on 10 and 11 November 2012. (2) Notes that entries for 2012 shows were against the trend and increased by 33 per cent over the same event in 2011. (3) Recognises the important economic benefit that dog show tourism brings Orange and other towns and cities in regional New South Wales.

C571 JOYCE PURTLE RECOGNITION MR ANDREW GEE to move— That this House: (1) Congratulates Joyce Purtle, of Cooyal, on being named on the New South Wales 2012 Primary Industries Hidden Treasure honour roll. (2) Notes that Joyce Purtle is recognised for her volunteer work for the Country Women's Association (CWA), New South Wales farmers, the Cooyal Hall Association, the Parents and Citizens Association and her role in the restoration of the Cooyal cemetery. (3) Recognises that Joyce Purtle has been a member of the CWA for more than 45 years.
