    15 April 2014 Dear Shareholder / Grower, RE: Milling configuration changes at Coleambally and Deniliquin Mills Earlier today we advised our employees at the Coleambally and Deniliquin Mills that operations would be reconfigured at these sites in response to the smaller rice crop currently being harvested across the Riverina. Over the coming months the Coleambally Mill operation will move from three shifts, five days per week, to one 10-hour shift, four days per week; while one of the two Deniliquin Mills will be scaled back from 24 hours, seven days, to 24 hours, five days per week. The second Mill at Deniliquin will remain at full capacity, operating 24 hours, seven days per week. While the smaller crop means a reduction in the level of production required at the Coleambally and Deniliquin sites, there will be no redundancies as a result of the changes. The 12 team members affected at Coleambally will be offered employment in SunRice’s Leeton plants, where milling operations remain at full capacity on 24 hours, seven days per week. The affected Deniliquin team members will be retained in other roles on site. To enable this to happen, a small number of contractors will be offered casual employment when their existing contract terms end. SunRice remains committed to the Coleambally and Deniliquin communities and we are very pleased to be able to offer all affected permanent staff ongoing employment to ensure their experience and skills are retained. Climate The Riverina Bioregion lies in southwest NSW, extending into central-north The Riverina Bioregion is one of 6 NSW bioregions lying in a central band of Vic. The bioregion is approximately 9,576,964 ha, with 7,090,008 ha or 74.03% the state dominated by a persistently dry semi-arid climate, and of it lying in NSW (IBRA 5.1). The NSW portion of the bioregion occupies characterised by hot summers and cool winters (Stern et al. 2000). Seasonal approximately 8.86% of the State (Eardley 1999 and IBRA 5.1). temperatures vary little across the bioregion, although in the north both summer and winter temperatures tend to be higher (Eardley 1999). The Riverina Bioregion extends from Ivanhoe in the Murray Darling Depression Bioregion south to Bendigo, and from Narrandera in the east to The highest levels of rainfall in the Riverina Bioregion occur in May and Balranald in the west.Within its boundaries lie the towns of Hay,Coleambally, September (Eardley 1999). Summer rainfall tends to occur mainly from Deniliquin, Leeton, Mossgiel, Hillston, Booligal and Wentworth, while Griffith, localised thunderstorms, with more consistent rainfall occurring in the Ivanhoe, Narrandera and Albury lie just outside its boundary in neighbouring winter months. Annual rainfall tends to increase from west to east and from bioregions. The bioregion also includes outlying remnants of the Murray north to south. The occurrence of rainfall is unpredictable toward the Darling Depression Bioregion in its western boundary, and the Victorian northwest of the bioregion, and drought periods are not unusual (Dalton Midlands Bioregion in the south.
