Hoosier National Forest Fishing Pond and Lake Guide

This fishing guide will assist you in locating lakes and ponds, on Forest Service property, that are maintained to provide recreational fishing opportunities. We will get you close to the fish but you must catch them! Over 35 pond & lake locations on both the Brownstown and Tell City Districts are covered in the guide. It includes boat ramp and pier information as well and what you might catch.

Ice fishing is allowed but be cautious of thin ice. State regulations on fishing are enforced on National Forest lands, requiring either a resident or non-resident license. Only electric motors are allowed on Forest Service lakes (Gas motors are allowed on ). If you have any further questions, please contact either Hoosier NF office.

Other fishing Spots:

Lake Monroe (10,750 acres) has a launch ramp for boats at the Hardin Ridge Recreation Area. Lake

Monroe has several miles of lakeshore fishing and is an excellent fishing resource.

A boat launch, toilet facility, and parking area are provided at Mano Point on the .

Other rivers on the Forest are and Little Blue. Although neither of these rivers have boat access points, each can provide many miles of good fishing opportunities. When accessing these waters, be aware that private land is intermingled with National Forest land and be careful not to stray from public land.

The key below will aid in determining public property from private property. The quadrangle name is on each map if you would like to obtain the entire topographical map.
