‘Activcity’ Grant Success

The Club is delighted to have been awarded an 'Activcity' grant from the Culture and Sport Division of City of Edinburgh Council for our 'Novice' Club Championships taking place on 28th September 2014. This will be held at Ainslie Park Leisure Centre and will be designed for our youngest swimmers, swimming 50m events with the option of a 100m Freestyle and Individual Medley. Watch out for demonstrations from some of the Club's top Elite athletes and get your t-shirts signed on the day! Parents - why not volunteer as a timekeeper or for one of the other jobs which we will be appealing for help with closer to the time? We hope that some of Edinburgh Council's Culture and Sport Division will be handing out medals. More details to be announced soon!

Annual Golf Outing Warrender players at Training Camp in Hungary

Jamie Heywood, Max MacCallum, Scott Wilson and Lewis Barrow were part of the 18 strong Scotland Junior Team that travelled to Eger in Hungary at the start of the Summer for a Water Polo training camp.

Two training sessions were scheduled each day with training games played against the hosts and a touring American College team during the week. Nobody was late for any of the training sessions or team meetings, but this probably had something to do with the threat of press-ups Eighteen golfers were present at West Linton Golf Club for in front of the rest of the team! the Annual Warrender Golf Outing that was played on

This year’s winner was Callum MacGregor who ended up with a net 64. The “closest to the hole” and “longest drive” competitions were both won by Ali Ramm, and this year’s wooden spoon winner was Rob Bagan, despite the fact he was playing at his home course!

After a short lunch, the players were off again for the afternoon round of Texas Scramble. Dougie MacGregor, Martyn Bryce and Stuart Strong ran out the winners with a 5 under par round. The players then sat down to a lovely dinner in the clubhouse where the prizes were given out for the winners (and losers).

Swimmers from Warrender Baths Club completed a very successful week of racing in Aberdeen last week, competing at the Scottish Gas National Age Group Championships (25-29th June 2014). The Club had over 70 swimmers taking part in the meet, the most we have ever had! At the completion of the five day event we had amassed 797 points to finish 1st in the Top Club Award, 42 points ahead of 2nd place Carnegie. This was the first time since 2011 that we have won the Top Club award; capping off a very successful season for the Club (in which we have also won the Top Club award at the Scottish Gas National Open Championships earlier in the year).
