El Parque Nacional Darién (PND), nexo natural entre Sudamérica y Centroamérica, es el mayor parque nacional no sólo de Panamá sino también de Centroamérica. Su estratégica situación geográfica le convierten en un lugar de paso y de encuentro entre la fauna de América del Norte y América del Sur, donde los invertebrados y vertebrados endémicos son muy abundantes. Mediante el uso de trampas malaise y de luz ubicadas en diferentes puntos dentro del PND, se colectaron 183 individuos de 87 especies de escarabajos longicornios que representan a las familias Cerambycidae y Disteniidae. Además se reportan cuatro especies de escarabajos longicornios (Cerambycidae) por primera vez para Panamá: Lepturges (Lepturges) proximus Melzer, 1934, Cobelura wappesi Corbett, 2004, Adesmus pirauna Martins and Galileo, 1999 y Helvina lanuginosa Dillon and Dillon, 1945. Cylicasta nysa Dillon and Dillon, 1946, previamente reportada en Panamá por Hovore 1989, no está citada en el Catalogo de los Cerambycidae (Coleoptera) de la Región Neotropical de Monné, convirtiéndose en un registro olvidado para el país. Se da la distribución previa conocida para cada especie, así como los métodos de colecta e información adicional sobre los sitios de colecta de cada espécimen. Palabras clave. Escarabajos longicornios, riqueza de especies, nuevos registros, Provincia de Darién, Mesoamé- rica. Abstract. Darién National Park (PND), a natural connection between South and Central America, is the largest national park not only in Panama but in all of Central America. Due to its strategic geographical situation, it is a place for the interchange of the North and South American fauna, where endemic invertebrates and vertebrates are very abundant. Through the use of malaise traps and light traps placed at different points within the PND, 183 individuals of 87 species of longicorn beetles in the families Cerambycidae and Disteniidae were collected. Also, four species of longhorn beetles (Cerambycidae) are reported for the first time for Panama: Lepturges (Lep- turges) proximus Melzer, 1934, Cobelura wappesi Corbett, 2004, Adesmus pirauna Martins and Galileo, 1999, and Helvina lanuginosa (Bates, 1865). Cylicasta nysa Dillon and Dillon, 1946 previously recorded in Panama by Hovore (1989) but it is not cited in Monné’s Catalogue of the Cerambycidae (Coleoptera) of the Neotropical Region, being considered a forgotten species of the country. The known prior distributions for each species, collecting methods, and additional information on the collection sites of each specimen are provided. Key words. Introducción Desde el 2013, en el Parque Nacional Darién se llevan a cabo proyectos de investigación enfocados en la diversidad biológica por parte del Fondo Darién, a través de la Fundación Natura y administrado por El Colegio de Biólogos de Panamá en el 2013 y posteriormente desde 2014 hasta el 2017 por Grupo para la Educación y el manejo Ambiental Sostenible (GEMAS). Desde entonces, el Museo de Invertebrados G. B. Fairchild de la Universidad de Panamá, en colaboración con estas instituciones ha tratado de proporcionar información relevante sobre la flora y fauna de esta rica zona natural. 2 • INSECTA MUNDI 0633, May 2018 LANUZA-GARAY AND SANTOS MURGAS El Parque Nacional Darién, nexo natural entre Sudamérica y Centroamérica, creado en el año 1980, es el mayor parque nacional no sólo de Panamá sino también de Centroamérica. Por su importancia internacional fue declarado por la UNESCO Sitio del Patrimonio Mundial en 1981 y Reserva de la Biosfera en 1982. Su estratégica situación geográfica le convierten en un lugar de paso y de encuentro entre la fauna de América del Norte y América del Sur, donde los invertebrados y vertebrados endémicos son muy abundantes (Cabrera 2012). Aunque algunos grupos de Coleoptera han sido bien estudiados en la República de Panamá, desde mediados del siglo XIX (Bates 1879, 1880, 1881, 1884, 1885), en los últimos años se han hecho impor- tantes aportes al conocimiento de grupos como por ejemplo los escarabajos longicornios

Peck Department of Biology, Carleton University, 1125 Colonel By Drive, Ottawa, Ontario K1S 5B6, Canada stewart_peck@carleton. ca Abstract. The beetle fauna of the island of Dominica is summarized. It is presently known to contain 269 genera, and 361 species (in 42 families), of which 347 are named at a species level. Of these, 62 species are endemic to the island. The other naturally occurring species number 262, and another 23 species are of such wide distribution that they have probably been accidentally introduced and distributed, at least in part, by human activities. Undoubtedly, the actual numbers of species on Dominica are many times higher than now reported. This highlights the poor level of knowledge of the beetles of Dominica and the Lesser Antilles in general. Of the species known to occur elsewhere, the largest numbers are shared with neighboring Guadeloupe (201), and then with South America (126), Puerto Rico (113), Cuba (107), and Mexico-Central America (108). The Antillean island chain probably represents the main avenue of natural overwater dispersal via intermediate stepping-stone islands. The distributional patterns of the species shared with Dominica and elsewhere in the Caribbean suggest stages in a dynamic taxon cycle of species origin, range expansion, distribution contraction, and re-speciation. ABSTRACT This article presents both ethnoentomological notes on Nahuatl and Mixtec language terms as they are applied to Cerambycidae (Coleoptera) and distributional records for species collected during three projects carried out in the states of Guerrero and Puebla, Mexico. Some comparative data from other Mesoamerican and Native American languages are discussed. Indigenous common names are mapped onto current taxonomic nomenclature, and an analysis is offered of the logical basis for Indigenous classification: the exclusion of some cerambycids and the inclusion of other beetles in the nominal native “cerambycid” category. New state distributional records for the Cerambycidae collected in this study are offered for Guerrero: Bebelis picta Pascoe, Callipogon senex Dupont, Neocompsa macrotricha Martins, Olenosus ser- rimanus Bates, Ornithia mexicana zapotensis Tippmann, Stenygra histrio Audinet-Serville, Strongylaspis championi Bates, Lissonotus flavocinctus puncticollis Bates, and Nothopleurus lobigenis Bates; and Puebla: Juiaparus mexicanus (Thomson), Ptychodes guttulatus Dillon and Dillon, and Steirastoma senex White. Yet, it was still too early to experience the real explosion of bird song, which usually happens after dawn. Then, after 05:30 AM, the chorus started when a vocal Great Kiskadee broke the morning silence, followed by the scratchy notes of two Hoffmann´s Woodpeckers, a nesting pair of Inca Doves, the ascending and monotonous song of the Yellow-bellied Elaenia, and the cacophony of an (apparently!) engaged pair of Rufous-naped Wrens. This was indeed a warm welcome to magical Costa Rica! Circling the slope of Poas volcano, we eventually reached the inspiring Bosque de Paz. With its hummingbird feeders and trails transecting a beautiful moss-covered forest, this lodge offered us the opportunity to see one of Costa Rica´s most difficult-to-see Grallaridae, the Scaled Antpitta.

A. glabripennis is a serious pest both in China and the U.S. This research project was developed in response to the need for efficient monitoring traps to assess population density and dispersal in the field and to detect new introductions at ports of entry. The first stages of the project aimed at filling the gaps in our knowledge of the effect of semiochemicals on A. glabripennis adult behavior and exploring potential use of these chemicals for monitoring purposes. Resumo Holdefer DR, Garcia FRM. 2015. Análise faunística de cerambicídeos (Coleoptera, Cerambycidae) em floresta subtropical úmida brasileira. Entomotropica 30(13): 118-134. O trabalho objetivou caracterizar a assembleia de cerambicídeos presente em fragmento de Floresta Subtropical Úmida do sul brasileiro, através de análise faunística, e dos índices de diversidade. Também comparar a eficiência de amostragem dos modelos de armadilha Malaise e armadilha atrativa. No fragmento as armadilhas foram distribuídas na área central e de borda, entre outubro 2005/outubro 2006. Amostrou-se 63 espécies distribuídas em Cerambycinae (S = 28) e Lamiinae (S= 35). Verificou-se a presença de 37 espécies raras, pouco frequentes, acidentais e não dominantes e quatro predominantes: Nyssodrysina lignaria, Eurysthea lacordairei, Chydarteres dimidiatus dimidiatus e Batus hirticornis. A Malaise amostrou maior riqueza, enquanto a atrativa foi mais equitativa. A assembleia de cerambicídeos, através do grande número de espécies raras, baixa constância e dominância, apresentou-se rica e diversa dentro do fragmento em sucessão.
