School Nurse attends half termly for drop in sessions. Lunch break: 12pm to 1pm. Also, on the school site you will find Charminster Pre- School for children aged 2 years and 9 months to 4 years and 11 months. We employ a specialist music teacher who teaches music across the school. We hold the Eco Schools Green Flag award and have an Eco Committee working across the school. We are a member of DASP - Dorchester Area Schools Partnership. We are a church school with strong links to our local church and our clergy. We received a 'Good' grade in our recent SIAMS (Church School Inspection). We have excellent links with Charminster Pre-School which enhances a smooth transition for the children and their families. We have excellent transition support for pupils leaving the school in Year 4. The children, parents and staff work with our Learning Transition Mentor from February to July in Year 4 in order to support a smooth transition into St Osmund's Middle School. Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Local Offer Support for At St. Mary’s First School, we seek to enable our pupils to children and make the best use of the opportunities offered at school young people with so that they will grow in knowledge and understanding, SEN and learn relevant skills and be proud of their achievements in disabilities all aspects of their lives. We are committed to offering an inclusive curriculum to ensure the best possible progress for all our pupils whatever their needs or abilities. We have staff trained with Emotional literacy support assistant (ELSA), Forest schools, Learn to move, speech and language, supporting specific learning difficulties, attachment disorder, Autistic spectrum disorder and Pathological Demand Avoidance.
