Designing a store for a single product that also happens to be rather small, was both challenge and liberation. Because the central narrative of the space was the notion that cupcakes evoke nostalgia and childhood memories, it was key to put the cupcake on stage, and then to create a whole world around it. sprinkles folio 2017 © a l m project inc We started with the design of the display: the signature cupcake array – in which each cupcake is precisely placed in a grid – communicates care with its organized appearance, and by preventing the cupcakes from touching each other, keeps the frosting perfect every time. Glimpsed through the clear wrapper peephole in the front door, the cupcake array it is at the heart of the store and the first thing the customer sees. From there the space unfolds: fun, approachable, yet sophisticated. And soon Sprinkles grew: from store to website to app, from Cupcake Mobile to Ice Cream Cart to the first 24- hour Cupcake ATM, we designed every element to be delightful and resonant for customers young and old alike.

Taste of Beverly Hills
Taste of Beverly Hills Join us as we explore the “foody” side of Beverly Hills. This exciting tour will visit both established eateries, long considered local institutions, as well as those made more recently famous on places like the Food Network or the Oprah Show. Next we will visit Edelweiss Chocolate Store where owners Steve and Madlen Zahir will tell us about the colorful history of the store, including celebrities who visit the store regularly and their favorites, as well as a behind the scenes tour to see the workers making the chocolates (all handmade). The machine will be located in the center of campus on the façade of the USC Bookstore on Childs Way. The partnership between USC Hospitality and Sprinkles Cupcakes is sure to please sweet-toothed Trojans with 24/7 access to the iconic treats from the world’s first cupcake bakery. Sprinkles Cupcakes have been a long-standing favorite on the USC campus. Procured often by student organizations and university departments for catered events, Sprinkles brings a smile and a rush of eager eaters looking for their favorite flavors. There will be no need to rush, the USC Cupcake ATM can hold up to 800 cupcakes and will feature a wide variety of flavors as well as specialty cupcakes to accommodate those with dietary concerns. To ensure freshness, the machine will be restocked multiple times throughout the day with cupcakes baked a mere three miles away from the company’s FIGat7th shop. This supports the USC Hospitality Group’s goal of local sourcing and presenting the community with the freshest food products possible. Additionally, Executive Chef Eric Ernest sites more alignment with the department’s food philosophy in that the cupcake recipes are chef driven, transparent products with no preservatives or fillers.
