THE HISTORY of SMU FOOTBALL 1910S on the Morning of Sept
OUTLOOK PLAYERS COACHES OPPONENTS REVIEW RECORDS HISTORY MEDIA THE HISTORY OF SMU FOOTBALL 1910s On the morning of Sept. 14, 1915, coach Ray Morrison held his first practice, thus marking the birth of the SMU football program. Morrison came to the school in June of 1915 when he became the coach of the University’s football, basketball, baseball and track teams, as well as an instructor of mathematics. A former All-Southern quarterback at Vanderbilt, Morrison immediately installed the passing game at SMU. A local sportswriter nicknamed the team “the Parsons” because the squad was composed primarily of theology students. SMU was a member of the Texas Intercollegiate Athletic Association, which ruled that neither graduate nor transfer students were eligible to play. Therefore, the first SMU team consisted entirely of freshmen. The Mustangs played their first game Oct. 10, 1915, dropping a 43-0 decision to TCU in Fort Worth. SMU bounced back in its next game, its first at home, to defeat Hendrix College, 13-2. Morrison came to be known as “the father of the forward pass” because of his use of the passing game on first and second downs instead of as a last resort. • During the 1915 season, the Mustangs posted a record of 2-5 and scored just three touchdowns while giving up 131 Ownby Stadium was built in 1926 points. SMU recorded the first shutout in school history with a 7-0 victory over Dallas University that year. • SMU finished the 1916 season 0-8-2 and suffered its worst 1920s 1930s loss ever, a 146-3 drubbing by Rice. -

L337 SOCCER MOMS CONCEPTIONS OF “HARDCORE” AND “CASUAL” IN THE DIGITAL GAMES MEDIUM by STEVEN BOYER Under the Direction of Ted Friedman ABSTRACT As digital games have become increasingly significant in the entertainment media landscape, the terms “casual” and “hardcore” have become the primary ways to describe gaming audiences, genres, and gameplay. However, these terms are saturated with outdated stereotypes involving gender, age, and class. Focusing on industrial discourse, this thesis examines this dichotomy, emphasizing areas of discontinuity and overlap to question why these terms have become so ubiquitous in gaming discourse and what functions they fulfill for a variety of groups including the industry, advertisers, and audience members. Ultimately, I suggest that these terms need to be replaced in order to move beyond restrictive stereotypes, proposing a new framework for digital games that takes into consideration user motivation, personal investment, and historical specificity. -
Chapter 11 Introduction to Investigation of the 46 Priests
Chapter 11 Introduction to investigation of the 46 priests Selecting the representative sample 11.1 The Commission received information about complaints, suspicions or knowledge of child sexual abuse in respect of 172 named priests and 11 unnamed priests. (Some or all of the 11 unnamed priests may, of course, be included in the 172 named priests.) After a preliminary examination, the Commission concluded that 102 of these priests were within remit. Of those priests who were not within the Commission‟s terms of reference, two main reasons for their exclusion were identified: the complaint was made outside the time period 1975 – 2004; the priest was not operating under the aegis of the Archdiocese of Dublin at the time of the alleged abuse. The priests in question here were mainly priests belonging to religious orders and societies who were working in Dublin but not on behalf of the Archdiocese. 11.2 The Commission decided that the only realistic way in which it could select and report on a representative sample of those complaints and suspicions was to select a representative sample of the priests concerned. Otherwise, the Commission may have had to investigate every priest within remit. The representative sample was chosen from the group of 102 priests who were within remit. The Commission took the view that it was impractical to make two separate samples for those against whom complaints were made and those about whom there were suspicions or concerns. Almost invariably, there were suspicions or concerns expressed about those against whom complaints were made. There was a very small number of priests about whom suspicions or concerns were expressed but about whom no actual complaints were made. -

Users often use phones to work with documents and mail, and often these functions are used by entrepreneurs. Accordingly, with such a high level of use of smartphones and tablets grows and assortment of mobile applications for them. Currently, most mobile devices are sold with an already installed set of mobile apps. Among them: a web browser, an email client, a calendar, an application for the purchase and listening of music, and others. Some pre-installed applications can be removed from the mobile device by the user, using the normal removal process, freeing up more storage space for other (preferred) applications. So, the mobile app is software designed to work on smartphones, tablets, and other mobile devices. Many mobile apps are installed on the device itself or can be downloaded to it from online mobile app stores such as the App Store, Google Play, Windows Phone Store, and more, for free or for a fee. Initially, mobile applications were used for quick e-mail checking, but their high demand led to the expansion of their appointments in other areas, such as games for mobile phones, GPS, communication, video viewing and Internet use. The mobile app market today is very well developed and steadily growing. Practice shows that mobile apps began to appear in 2008, and they are currently in the hands of mobile-operating system owners: Apple App Store, Google Play, Windows Phone Store, and BlackBerry App World. -
A Multiple-Case Study of App Stores
App stores for owners: a multiple-case study of app stores Ewoud Bloemendal – [email protected] August 28th , 2012 Utrecht University Master Business Informatics Department of Information and Computing Sciences Supervisors: Dr. Slinger Jansen (Utrecht University) Dr. Marco Spruit (Utrecht University) Abstract This research aims to help app store owners translate their app store strategy into app store features and policies. At first a definition of app stores is given to scope the research. After that literature is studied to identify app store strategies. This resulted in an app store strategy model that models the app store strategy based on four dimensions. A multiple case study was performed on six app stores: Google Play, SlideMe, Apple Appstore, Binpress, Amazon appstore for Android and Intel AppUp. This study aimed to identify the features and policies used by app stores. The six sequential case studies resulted in an app store classification model with 67 features and 24 policies. The classification model is categorized based on the main influenced app store characteristic. In the last part of this research a mapping is made between the dimensions of the app store strategic model and the features and policies. 1 Preface This master thesis document marks the end of my time studying for the Master Business Informatics at Utrecht University. It is the result of many hours of hard work spanning over eighteen months’ time. During these months I have found that its true what they say: it is not about the destination, it is about the journey. And what a journey it was! Since the start of my graduation research I lost twenty-five pounds of bodyweight but gained five of it back later, I went on seven holiday trips to get my mind back in shape, I lost many of the convictions I held dear but found new ones along the way, I experimented with countless productivity tools until settling on a simple kitchen timer and I created over forty different versions of my thesis resulting in the one in front of you. -
