After servind for two years as the head coach at University, John Haus returned to his alma mater at the University of North Carolina to become the Tar Heels’ head men’s lacrosse coach on June 1, 2000. It was an emotional decision for Haus but one he does not regret as he seeks to return Carolina lacrosse to national prominence. "First off, I want to thank all the people at Johns Hopkins for the opportunities they gave me, both as a head coach there and as an assistant coach earlier in my career," Haus said when he was hired at Carolina. "I was always treat- ed in a first class fashion there and I have nothing but respect and gratitude for the people at Hopkins. "However, I was offered an opportunity to take over a program at the school where I played and where two of my brothers also played.
