Narrator 2: Russell hated the scrapyard. It was boring, and he never had any adventures there. Narrator 1: Suddenly, there was a very loud sound from over in the trees. Russell: What was that? Narrator 2: He walked into the forest to find out. Narrator 1: In the forest, Russell saw Sideswipe. He felt very frightened, because he was seeing a robot for the first time! Narrator 2: Sideswipe was afraid too, because he was seeing a boy for the first time! Narrator 1: But when Underbite suddenly came around the rocks, they were both much more afraid of him! Narrator 1: The other Transformers saw Underbite, too! They changed into cars and quickly drove back to Fixit’s spaceship, because Underbite was very strong and they could not fight him. Narrator 2: When they all arrived back at the spaceship, Fixit was happy to see them. But he was not happy to see Underbite! Bumblebee: Quick, hide! Fixit! Stay with him! Wang Department of Computer Science Stanford University Stanford, CA 94305 nfotedar@ jwang22@ Abstract While image captioning and segmentation have been widely explored, the reverse problem of image generation from text captions remains a difficult task. The most successful attempts currently employ GANs; however, in this paper we explore a variational autoencoder model with transformers. The motivation for applying transformers to the task of text-to-image generation comes from recent success in applying attention to it (with the AttnGAN model cite. Many researchers have achieved improvements over attention based models by applying transformers, so it seemed that transformers could aid this task as well. The VAE transformer model was ultimately unable to recreate the performance of the more traditional GAN models, and our results suggest that the use of GANs might be key to the text-to-image generation task. 1 Introduction The problem of generating images from natural language descriptions in an automated fashion is fundamental to a variety of important applications, ranging from computer assisted design to computer generated art. Apart from applications more directly related to human tasks, the ability for a computer to generate art further allows us to explore how much creativity can be expressed a computer, and how this may speak to the general intelligence a computer may be able to posses. Moreover, it sheds light on the sort of work than can be done at the intersection of natural language processing and computer vision. When exploring a task in multi-modal learning such as this one, additional challenges of proper data encoding and proper evaluation metrics arise, but tackling such problems is fundamental if we hope to one day build computer systems which are able to properly mimic the functions of the human mind.

BASIC RULES For use with the AUTOBOTS STARTER SET These rules are for a basic version of the TRANSFORMERS Trading Card Game. When playing this basic version, ignore rules text on all the cards. SETUP • Start with 2 TRANSFORMERS character cards with alt-mode sides face up in front of each player. • Shuffle the battle cards and put the deck between the players. Reshuffle the deck if it runs out of cards during play. HOW TO WIN KO all your opponent’s character cards to win the game. Players take turns attacking each other’s character cards. ON YOUR TURN: 1. You may flip one of your character cards to its other mode. 2. Choose one of your character cards to be the attacker and one of your opponent’s character cards to be the defender.
