St. Francis of Assisi, pray for us. Congratulations, Deacon Donald Morris! What a wonderful weekend we had last week as we celebrated the ordination of our parishioner, Deacon Donald Morris. Thank you to everyone who came together to pray with him as he enters into his last year of formation to the Holy Priesthood next year. I want to thank the Parish Council for helping to arrange the reception and to all the Liturgical and Music Ministers who made the Mass so beautiful. Keep his priesthood ordination date in mind for next year, May 28, 2022! Deacon Morris was assigned to Incarnate Word Parish in Chesterfield for his transitional diaconate. Here are a few words from Deacon Morris: Parishioners of St. Francis of Assisi: Thank you for your generous outpouring of love, support, and prayers. Not only over this past weekend as we celebrated my Ordination to the Diaconate, but for my entire time in seminary formation I've been grateful for your generosity and support. Saint Francis is truly an amazing place to call my home! Additionally, I want to thank Fr. Yates. Over the last six years, Fr. Yates has been an incredible Pastor, mentor, and, most importantly, a friend. We are blessed to have him as our shepherd at SFA. Know of my prayers for our parish, and I ask that you continue to pray for me as I continue to prepare for the Sacred Priesthood. With Gratitude, Deacon Donald Morris Mother’s Day I extend greetings and prayers to all our mothers on this, their special day. In Catholic tradition, the month of May is dedicated to Mary also. Chosen by God above all other women, Mary's faith and obedience paved the way for the Incarnation. Her example teaches us faith, obedience, humility and most of all, how to love. At the foot of the Cross, her heart broke for Jesus, yet she accepted God's will not only for her Son, but for herself in her new role as mother to us all. (John 19:25-27) As we honor our earthly mothers this month, let's honor our heavenly mother as well. Those devoted to her are always led to her Son. For her wise counsel tells us, "Do whatever he tells you."
