o The two-week long eighth edition of the Indo-Maldives joint military exercise, ‘Ekuverin’, came to an end at Belagavi, Karnataka.

o The Lok Sabha passed the Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriages) Bill 2017 making instant triple talaq illegal with up to three years in jail for the husband.

o The proposed law would only be applicable on instant triple talaq or ‘talaq- e-biddat’.

o Ravi Shakar Prasad is Minister for Law and Justice.

o The bill will now be sent to the Rajya Sabha for approval.  Prince Harry Named President of ACG

o Prince Harry has been named the president of African Parks, a conservation group that manages a dozen wildlife areas across the continent.

o Prince Harry will contribute to its effort to protect Africa's natural heritage and support both wildlife and communities.

o India successfully test-fired its indigenously developed Advanced Air Defence supersonic interceptor missile from Odisha.

o It is capable of destroying any incoming ballistic missile at low altitude.

o This was the 3rd supersonic interceptor test carried out this year. The interceptor is a 7.5 m long single stage solid rocket propelled guided missile equipped with a navigation system.  SBI raises fund to meet Basel III norms

o SBI has approved of raising Rs 8,000 cr through various sources, including masala bonds, to meet Basel III capital norms.

o Masala bonds are rupee denominated specialised debt instruments that can be floated in overseas markets only to raise capital.

o Basel III is an int. regulatory accord that introduced a set of reforms designed to improve regulation & risk management within banking sector.  Loan with WB for UP Tourism Project

o An agreement for IBRD Credit of USD 40 Million from World Bank for “U.P. Pro-Poor Tourism Development Project" was signed between India and WB.

o The programme size is approx. USD 57.14 million, of which 40 million will be financed by the Bank & remaining by State.

o The Objective of the project is to increase tourism-related benefits for local communities in targeted destinations.
