6 Academic Links to be Strengthened Chairman HEC Visits Hungary Prof. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, Chairman, Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan visited Budapest, Hungary to formalize Higher Education and Scientific Exchange Programme signed between the two countries in December 2015 for award of 240 scholarships to Pakistani students to pursue higher studies in reputed Hungarian institutions and 30 scholarships for Hungarian students to study in leading Pakistani institutions.

The visit was also aimed to explore further areas of cooperation in the field of higher education. The Chairman was accompanied by Engr. Waheed Ahmed Mangi, Deputy Director (HRD).

During the visit, Chairman met with the Minister of State for Education of Hungary, Dr. László Palkovics, Ministry of Human Capacities, the Deputy State Secretary for International and EU Affairs, Mr. Gergely Prőhle, and representative of Tempus Public Foundation, Dr. Zsuzsanna, to discuss bilateral education cooperation. He also visited some renowned Hungarian universities in the field of Physical Education, Engineering & Technology, Economics, Medicine, Agriculture & Veterinary Sciences and Public Policy.

During meetings with Rectors of Hungarian institutes, he discussed possible opportunities of direct academic linkages between leading higher education institutions of both the countries.

During the visit, the HEC and Campus France organized a Pakistan Day function in Paris with an aim to bring French institutions of higher learning closer to Pakistani universities so as to enhance collaboration for development of human resource and strengthening of research in Pakistan’s institutions. The delegation also visited the French Senate.
